We are currently seeking part-time summer childcare staff

At the Stateline Boys & Girls Clubs, our mission is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.

TITLE: Assistant Youth Development Professional 

POSITION TYPE: Part-time (20-25 hours per week)

PERFORMANCE PROFILE SOURCE: Youth Development Professional

DEPARTMENT: Programs

REPORTS TO: Unit Director

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

AVAILABILITY:  Summer - Mon-Fri 

  • 9:00am-3:00pm |Ages 6-7 (Cadets)
  • 2:30pm-5:30pm | Ages 6-7 (Cadets) 

Job Requirements

  • Must be 16 years of age or older
  • High School or Equivalent
  • CPR / First-Aid Training

Additional Qualifications:
       Experienced in working with underserved children and tweens/teens
       Basic understanding of Youth Development
       Ability to support positive behavior guidance
       Ability to communicate effectively with youth, parents and staff.
       Ability to assist in planning and implementing quality programs
       Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment
       Ability to perform activities with children

Specific Job Responsibilities

Program Planning:

The Assistant Teacher will assist The Lead Teacher in preparing and facilitating youth programs and activities. This includes helping set up program materials, participating in activities, and ensuring programs are engaging, educational and aligned with Boys & Girls Club goals. 

Safe, Positive Climate:

The Assistant Teacher helps maintain a safe and positive climate for all members at all times. This includes programs areas, reporting safety concerns and ensuring all equipment is used correctly. 

Program Participation:

The Assistant Teacher is actively involved in daily programming, demonstrating enthusiasm and encouraging members participation. Assistants provide positive feedback and help reinforce good behavior and positive interactions. 

Member Support & Guidance:

The Assistant Teacher supports youth in developing social skills, problem solving and positive behaviors. This includes helping manage minor conflicts, modeling appropriate behavior, and supporting the Lead Teacher during guidance or redirection. 

Administration:

  • Assist with attendance tracking
  • Help maintain clean and organized program spaces
  • Ensure supplies are available and ready for use 
  • Support the Lead Teacher in preparing weekly or seasonal activities 
  • Communicate any concerns to the Lead Teacher or Unit Director 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds regularly, and up to 50 pounds periodically
  • Ability to work in environments with a wide array of noise and activity levels
