C5 TEXAS IS HIRING! 

We are searching for outstanding individuals to join our Summer 2025 program team as a Cabin Counselor at  our first and second summer experiences, Camp Leadership U and Camp Leadership U2. This is a terrific opportunity for a person to gain skills in youth development. This position begins on July 14, 2025 and will conclude on August 1, 2025. Staff training will take place at June 29- July 2, at an on-site location in the DFW area.

We are a dynamic youth development organization uniquely positioned to provide youth from risk-filled environments with a comprehensive curriculum focused on leadership, character education, college and career access, and community action. Our curriculum is based on an experiential learning model, delivered through a combination of immersive summer experiences, weekend programming during the academic year, and mentoring for five years from the end of 7th grade through high school graduation.

Cabin Counselors are actively involved in all aspects of camp life, bringing energy, enthusiasm and a positive attitude to the camp environment. They build and maintain relationships with each of our young leaders, coaching our first and second year students as they develop essential leadership skills. Counselors live in cabins with their assigned group of young leaders, participate in leadership programming with their cabins, and provide guided feedback on a weekly basis to each young person, helping our young leaders connect camp activities to C5 outcomes.

Specific Responsibilities include:

  • Supervise, lead and coach a group of campers in daily activities, evening programs, and overnight activities, ensuring a safe, engaging and nurturing environment. 

  • Provide opportunities for the campers so that each individual camper experiences success. 

  • Assist each camper with meeting their personal Leadership goals and those established by C5 for camper development. 

  • Follow established procedures for supervising camper health and following all safety regulations. 

  • Assist Program Instructors with activities and facilitate curriculum and instruction with campers. 

  • Help out with all camp activities and participate as a member of the camp staff team. 

  • Able to visualize and audibly identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to assigned activities. 

  • Capable of responding appropriately to emergencies and situations requiring decision making, first aid and/or CPR.

  • Lives in a cabin with campers, co-counselors and/or support staff, ensuring 24-hour supervision. 

  • Deliver nightly programming to all campers in your care.

  • Create a learning environment conducive to cooperative and hands-on learning

  • Conduct CDOCs with campers and monitor their progress,while providing suggestions for improvement.

  • Actively engage youth at all times

  • Follow all camp rules, regulations and policies and enforce them among peers.  

  • Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications & Skills:

Experience working/volunteering with youth preferred

Capable of carrying at least 35 lbs and carrying it a distance of 50 feet or more

CPR certified or willing to become CPR certified
