TITLE: Substitute Teacher
REPORTS TO: Principal
JOB GOAL: To teach students according to county and state policy, mission, core beliefs, academic goals, and target areas.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Possess a valid West Virginia Teaching Certificate.
- Completion of a clear background check.
- Ability to teach all levels and types of courses.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to provide differentiated instruction and intervention to students exhibiting a wide range of abilities and behaviors.
- Any additional combination of training or experience which would lead to successful employment as a Substitute Teacher.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
- Adhere to all federal, state, and district laws and policies.
- Promote and adhere to the district mission, core beliefs, academic goals, and target areas.
- Follow lesson plans as directed.
- Administer and correct assessments.
- Provide report for itinerant teacher.
- Maintain order of classroom and equipment.
- Understand and respond to the unique characteristics of learners.
- Establish and maintain a safe and appropriate learning environment.
- Establish and maintain a learner-centered culture.
- Utilize a variety of research-based instructional strategies.
- Motivate and engage students in learning, problem solving and collaboration.
- Adjust instruction based on a variety of assessments and student responses.
- Engage in collaborative learning opportunities for self-renewal with colleagues.
- Participate in school-wide collaborative efforts to support the success of all students.
- Work with parents, guardians, families and community entities to support student learning and well-being.
- Promote practices and policies that improve school environment and student learning.
- Provide measurable progress of student learning of state-approved curricula.
- Demonstrate professional conduct as defined in law, policy and procedure at the state, district, and school level.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
