The Wausau School District is hiring Substitute Teachers for the 2026-27 school year. Come be a part of our Substitute Teaching team!

Have you ever thought of working as a SUBSTITUTE TEACHER? If you qualify (you must hold a minimum of an Associates degree and meet District standards for background and reference checks), we can help you with the state-required preparation course!

This posting is for those who qualify for substitute teaching licensure in the state of Wisconsin - the preparation class meets the state course requirement and will prepare you to apply for your substitute teaching license/permit at the end of the session. The class will be held in Wausau on Tuesday, July 28, 2026 from about 8am to 4pm. More details will be shared once you are selected for the class.

Substitute Teachers play a vital role in the District''s mission to advance student learning, achievement, and success. The Wausau School District is seeking educators from all certification areas to serve as substitute teachers on an "on-call" basis. All degree fields and careers are welcome, including retirees.

Our Substitute Teachers enjoy a flexible schedule, competitive pay, and a great work environment. As a Substitute Teacher with the Wausau School District, you will enjoy meaningful work while striving towards excellence in education and learning. We look forward to having you join our District!

Certification Requirements: You MUST ALREADY HOLD a minimum of an Associate''s Degree from an accredited college or university (per Wisconsin DPI requirements).

If you already hold a license for teaching in Wisconsin, please do NOT apply for this class. The 2026-27 Substitute Teacher position will be posted here on WECAN very soon. Thank you!
