The School District of Beloit is seeking Substitute School Security Officers. These positions are considered on call/as needed positions and are not benefits-eligible. Minority and bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
The District School Security Officer provides support to the instructional process with specific responsibilities for ensuring the safety, security, and welfare of all students, staff, and visitors while on school grounds. This position assists the administrative staff with carrying out policies and procedures that ensure safe and orderly schools at the building level. The SSO also works closely with the assigned School Resources Officers (SRO).
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Maintains security and safety at their designated school • Collaborates with the administrative team and SRO in handling disruptive and crisis/emergency situations • Patrols and monitors assigned areas of the school building, grounds, and parking lot(s) to deter, detect, report, and stop violations of the law and/or district rules and/or policies • Detects, investigates, and reports unauthorized or suspicious persons, vehicles, and activities • Supervises and maintains security during passing time in the hallways of the school • Monitors the surveillance cameras • Maintains security and safety during breakfast and lunch and with morning arrival and afternoon dismissal of students • Assists with fire drills and other emergency building evacuations/drills • Maintains the security of entrances and exits throughout the day • Trains and mentors other new SSO members as assigned • Models non-discriminatory practices in all activities • Serves as a trained member of the Medical Emergency Response Team (MERT)
