Job Description â Substitute Administrator - 2026â2027 School Year

Position Title: Substitute Administrator Reports To: Superintendent or Designee

Position Summary

The Substitute Administrator serves in a temporary administrative capacity to ensure the safe, efficient, and effective operation of Boone County Schools during the absence of a principal, assistant principal, director, or other assigned administrator.

Qualifications

  • A valid West Virginia Administrative Certificate
  • Minimum of three (3) years successful experience as a school administrator. Demonstrated leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of West Virginia Board of Education policies and Boone County Schools procedures

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Assume administrative responsibilities assigned by the Superintendent or designee.

  2. Maintain a safe and orderly learning environment.

  3. Supervise students, faculty, staff, and school operations during the assigned period.

  4. Support instructional programs and student achievement initiatives.

  5. Address student discipline matters in accordance with county and state policies.

  6. Communicate effectively with staff, students, parents, and community members.

  7. Assist with emergency procedures and crisis management when necessary.

  8. Ensure compliance with Boone County Schools policies, state regulations, and federal requirements.

  9. Maintain confidentiality regarding student and personnel matters.

  10. Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designee.

Evaluation

Performance shall be evaluated in accordance with Boone County Schools policies and West Virginia Board of Education regulations.

Terms of Employment

Employment is on an as-needed basis for the 2026â2027 school year..

Compensation shall be determined by the Boone County Board of Education Principal salary formula minus specific full time BCS principal supplements.
