La Cañada High School 78 was named a National Forum School to Watch" school four times most recently in 2023. All LCUSD schools have been designated as California Distinguished Schools with its three elementary schools recognized again in 2023.

Job Summary

A food service workers primary responsibilities are to assist in the preparation and serving of school meals and to maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen. Substitutes will perform these duties on an on-call as-needed basis when regular employees are absent.

Requirements

Qualifications

  1. Previous Experience Experience in food service. Preferred experience in cashiering.
  2. Education Equivalent to the completion of the eighth grade, high school equivalency desired.

Work Year

Substitute assignments are offered on an as-needed basis for 3.75 hours per day, Monday through Friday, during the regular school year, which is currently August 14, 2025, to June 4, 2026. Work hours tend to be mid-morning to early afternoon.

Salary

Placement on classified salary range 17 is dependent on previous experience as a food service worker. The wage range is 17.44 to 22.26 per hour. Substitutes keep timesheets for all time worked during a calendar month. Payment is issued on the 10th of the following month.
