Qualifications:

  • High School Graduate or GED.
  • Physically fit to perform duties.
  • Pass competency test for Aide pursuant to 18A-4-8c.
  • Pass criminal background check.
  • Before beginning any job assignment, applicant must be adult and child CPR/AED/First Aid certified or be willing to become certified
  • Must be willing to complete CORE and Specialized Health Care Training with Certified School Nurse

Job Summary:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Maintain confidentiality of students and their families. Direct all inquiries for any information through classroom teacher.

  2. Supervise students in presence or absence of teacher.

  3. Assist in toileting needs of children (training, diapering, cleaning child as necessary).

  4. Assist in feeding needs of children (preparing foods to be served, feeding, training, cleanup routines).

  5. Assist in health and hygiene programs (such as brushing teeth, etc.)

  6. Maintain health and sanitation needs of environment (such as washing utensils, disinfecting furniture or materials, etc.)

  7. Perform bus monitor duties as assigned.

  8. If assigned as a bus aide, supervise assigned student(s) when getting on, off and riding bus.

  9. Provide individual or group training as instructed by classroom teacher.

  10. Maintain data pertinent to individual progress of students.

  11. Prepare instructional materials as directed by teacher.

  12. Follow behavior management approach to training sessions, and disruptive behavior.

  13. Perform specialized health care procedures, as needed.

  14. Maintain positive work habits.

  15. Any and all duties assigned by principal.

  16. Assist in transportation of students by riding the mode of transportation, if needed.
