Job Summary
SUMMARY: Drives bus to transport students over specified routes according to time schedule. Complies with traffic regulations. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: may be assigned related duties • Drives a school bus or transportation vehicle over assigned routes in accordance with an established time schedule. • Transports students, staff, and other passengers as needed, to and from school, field trips, and/or special events. • Performs daily pre-and post-operative safety inspection on assigned school bus or buses per the daily checklist form and reports any and all mechanical defects or malfunctions. • Completes the daily record of transportation functions, including students transported, mileage, type of trip, and standby time. • Adheres to provisions of Motor Vehicle Code, and pupil transportation regulations. • Complies with discipline policies set forth in the School Code of Conduct and Board Policies for Transportation. • Attends and participates in transportation safety and in-service training workshops and meetings. • Must have patience, be neat and personable, kind and courteous. • Maintains cleanliness of interior/exterior of buses and or automotive transportation equipment/vehicles. • Cleans, sweeps, washes windows and refuels. • Assist students in safely getting on and off the bus, and across highways and streets (as required), at designated stops and on field trips and/or special events. • Supervise and maintain student conduct during transport to assure safe vehicle operation. • Operates school bus warning devices while stopped to warn approaching traffic to stop. • Provides bus evacuation and safety instruction to students, staff, and other passengers. • Operates a two-way radio. • Administers first aid/CPR to injured/ill bus passengers as necessary and appropriate. • Attends and participates in transportation safety and in-service training workshops and meetings. • Interface with transportation technology, such as iPads

Requirements / Qualifications
High School diploma or general education degree (GED). Two (2) years experience driving any motor vehicle. Must possess and maintain a California drivers license Class A, B or C. Note: Applicants must have held a valid drivers license for the past two consecutive years to date with no chargeable accidents within that time; any moving traffic citation during the past three years will be evaluated and may be considered disqualifying. Must have a California Drivers License, Class B-P with appropriate endorsement and a California School Bus Certificate. Must pass State Skills Test and State Written Test /Department of Transportation physical and CDE Basic Training Program. Must possess current first aid and CPR card from American Red Cross. Must be able to pass physical, including drug test.
The Wilsona School District will cover the cost of training necessary to meet the above-mentioned requirements. However, candidates will be responsible for all costs associated with their DOT physical, medical examinations, and CHP fees.
