(ECI) is a leading power engineering consultancy providing engineering, system planning, and studies, technical consultation, project management, surveying, environmental planning, commissioning/testing, and construction services to electric utilities, energy developers, and industrial customers across the U.S. Our experience spans system voltages from 4.16 kV to 765 kV.Position SummaryECI has an immediate opening for Substation Project Engineers in San Díago, CA.ResponsibilitiesConceptual, preliminary, and final detailed design of new, upgraded, and expanded substations, including material procurement, construction and commissioning/startup support through energization.Develop and deliver physical, electrical, civil, and communication design studies, calculations, drawings, exhibits, and specifications.Assist the Project Manager in planning and executing best‑in‑class projects, including client and stakeholder coordination, training and mentoring of design staff, project quality assurance, and oversight of design engineers, designers, drafters, and support staff.Coordinate specialized tasks with ECI's subject‑matter‑expert discipline groups such as Distribution Studies, Transmission Studies, Grounding Studies, Protection (relay coordination and settings), Civil Engineering, Communication (SCADA integration), Transmission & Distribution Engineering, Environmental Planning, Surveying, Lands/Right‑of‑Way, and Project Management/Controls.Minimum RequirementsBachelor of Science or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.6+ years of project and design engineering experience, or an acceptable combination of education and experience.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Strong organization and planning skills.Ability to work in a team environment.Commitment to quality and accuracy.Willingness to meet fast‑paced project schedules.Advanced knowledge of power engineering principals.Expertise regarding applicable codes, standards, and design tools.Basic project management execution skills.Ability to oversee and direct design personnel on a project team.PE license preferred.Experience in the utility or merchant power industry a plus.Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without requiring visa sponsorship.Occasional travel/driving required; subject to ECI auto insurance carrier requirements.CompensationSalary range: $120,000 – $153,000 annually, commensurate with experience and education.BenefitsMedical, dental, and vision insuranceFlexible spending accountHealth savings accountLife insuranceDisability insurance401(k) with profit sharing and employee stock ownership planPaid vacation, personal days, and holidaysPaid parental leaveContinued professional education reimbursementEqual Opportunity EmployerElectrical Consultants, Inc.
