Substation Construction Manager

Lead Critical Infrastructure Projects That Power Communities

We are seeking an experienced Substation Construction Manager to oversee the successful execution of substation projects from the ground up. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who thrives in the field, prioritizes safety, and knows how to drive projects forward while coordinating across multiple teams.

You will play a key role in delivering high-quality electrical infrastructure projects that directly impact grid reliability and energy delivery.

What You'll Do

  • Champion a strong safety culture on-site by enforcing safety protocols and ensuring compliance with all regulations and industry standards
  • Lead daily construction activities, coordinating with engineers, contractors, EPC partners, and stakeholders to keep projects on track
  • Oversee construction quality through inspections, audits, and QA/QC documentation, ensuring all work meets specifications
  • Review and interpret electrical, civil, mechanical, and structural drawings to guide field execution
  • Manage RFIs, change orders, and field issues in collaboration with EPC contractors and project teams
  • Track progress, maintain detailed documentation, and provide regular project updates
  • Identify risks and resolve issues proactively to maintain schedule, budget, and quality targets
  • Support procurement efforts, including material takeoffs and coordination of equipment delivery
  • Lead, mentor, and support field teams, fostering accountability and strong communication
  • Oversee project closeout, including turnover to commissioning teams and support through energization
  • Capture lessons learned and recommend improvements to enhance future project execution

What You Bring

  • Proven experience managing substation or heavy civil/electrical construction projects

  • Strong working knowledge of substation construction, including:

  • Foundations, drill piers, and concrete work

  • Breaker pads and GSU containment pits

  • Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and schematics

  • Solid understanding of construction safety practices and hazard mitigation, including working near energized equipment

  • Experience leading teams, managing field operations, and resolving conflicts effectively

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment

  • Proficiency with tools such as Microsoft Excel, Word, and Project, along with construction-related software

  • Ability to work in physically demanding environments, including uneven terrain and active construction sites
  • Comfortable working near high-voltage equipment while maintaining strict safety standards
  • Ability to lift and carry tools and materials as needed
  • Commitment to maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient job site

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $48.00 - $60.00/hr.
