About the Role
CLFC Healthcare & Communications is seeking Licensed Substance Use Disorder Counselors for a VA community-based residential treatment program serving veterans in the New Orleans, LA catchment area. This program provides residential treatment and case management for 25 veterans participating in the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Healthcare System (SLVHCS) Substance Use Disorder Program.
You will deliver evidence-based substance use disorder treatment including individual and group therapy, case management, and discharge planning in a residential setting. This role supports veterans transitioning from active substance use to recovery through a structured therapeutic environment.
Key Responsibilities
Provide individual and group substance use disorder counseling using evidence-based approaches (CBT, MI, 12-Step Facilitation, EMDR, or other VA-approved modalities)
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans aligned with VA SUD treatment standards
Conduct biopsychosocial assessments and ongoing clinical evaluations
Coordinate case management services including housing assistance, benefits navigation, employment support, and community resource referrals
Facilitate discharge planning and aftercare coordination with VA outpatient services
Maintain clinical documentation per VA and state regulatory requirements
Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and care coordination with SLVHCS clinical staff
Support CARF or Joint Commission accreditation compliance
Required Qualifications
Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related field
Active Louisiana state licensure: LCSW, LPC, or Licensed Addictions Counselor (LAC)
Minimum 2 years of clinical experience in substance use disorder treatment
Experience with evidence-based SUD treatment modalities
Knowledge of VA healthcare system and veteran-specific behavioral health needs preferred
Ability to pass a VA background investigation
Preferred Qualifications
CADC (Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor) or equivalent addiction counseling certification
Experience in residential treatment settings
Experience working with veteran populations
Familiarity with VA SUD treatment protocols and CARF standards
Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus for New Orleans service area
