Job Description:

Odyssey is searching for a Math Specialist/ Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) Coordinator to join our dedicated and creative teaching team at Odyssey Community School, a 417 student public school for learners in grades PK - 8 in Manchester, CT. Odyssey is the first Connecticut public charter school with a distinguished history of excellence, outstanding student performance, and a learning community committed to meaningful core values. Odysseys vibrant educational community is an ideal work environment for a teacher who is creative, flexible, and who will work collaboratively with a group of dedicated staff and students who have enrolled in Odyssey as a school of choice. We offer an early release for students each Friday to allow for weekly professional learning opportunities for all staff. In addition, our class sizes are no more than 20 students allowing for more individualized attention and support. Duties and Responsibilities include:

Curriculum & Instruction Support:

  • Collaborate with teachers to enhance the math curriculum (Illustrative Math), ensuring alignment with standards, effective instructional strategies and implementation of Building Thinking Classrooms
  • Develop K-8 Math Curriculum Scope & Sequence and grade level curriculum documents
  • Model effective teaching strategies and co-teach math lessons as needed
  • Engage in 6-8 week student centered coaching cycles

Implementation and Oversight of Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS)

  • Coordinate the implementation of the MTSS of Supports framework for Math and Literacy with support from the Literacy Specialist
  • Develop a schedule for MTSS staff & monitor to make changes as needed
  • Maintain accurate records of MTSS plans, interventions, and student progress and communicate with families
  • Provide Tier 2 & Tier 3 targeted instruction to small groups
  • Analyze student data for math and literacy through the lens of equity to identify trends and patterns that may indicate the need for additional support or intervention

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5+ years of successful classroom teaching or special education experience within grades K-8
  • Relevant CT teaching certification for grades K-8
  • Experience teaching mathematics or speciality training in mathematics
  • Masters or advanced degree in curriculum & instruction is preferred
  • 092 or advanced degree is preferred, this position will act as administrative designee as needed
  • Evidence of strong teacher leadership and coaching experience

Compensation and Benefits:

Salary Range: $63,813 (M5) - $104,492, plus 10 additional days in the summer at per diem rate

All certified teachers

Work Year: 186 days (189 days the first year including new teacher orientation) plus an additional 10 days in the summer
