The Art & Design StudioLab Assistant I - IV is responsible for collaborating with Art & Design faculty to monitor and supervise students working in the 2D3DDigital Art & Design lab and studio spaces and/or gallery. This position may also assist with FAC administrative tasks ad hoc.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Monitor and supervise students during Art & Design open lab times. Assist as needed in various 2D3DDigital Art & Design lab and studio spaces and/or gallery. Train Federal Work Study students in lab/studio/gallery maintenance and clean-up. Assist FAC administrative assistant, faculty, and staff with other duties as assigned.

Individuals must possess these knowledge, skills, and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the duties and responsibilities of the job with or without reasonable accommodation using some other combination of skills and abilities.

The individual is expected to follow College work rules and policies.

Knowledge of various Art & Design media techniques and processes. Ability to have a flexible schedule to accommodate unpredictable disciplinary needs. Often requires weekends and evening shifts particularly towards the end of the term. Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing using the English language with or without the use of an interpreter. Knowledge of how to effectively and sensitively work with constituents from diverse cultural backgrounds and perspectives. Knowledge and general skills with Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Ergonomic Requirements

Regular office hours are established between 8 am - 5 pm during the workweek. A flexible work schedule including nights and weekends may be necessary due to the nature of the responsibilities. Work is physical. Requires ability to lift 50 pounds and possibly the use of power hand tools. All individuals are required to be able to perform the essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Minimum Requirements

Education ------------

High School diploma or GED. Experience ------------

6 months of work or higher education experience in an Art & Design related discipline. Level II Level I plus one academic year. Level III Level II plus one academic year. Level IV Level III plus one academic year.
