The University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) is hiring Writing and Speaking Undergraduate Consultants. University Writing & Speaking consultants work with individual students and small groups on writing and presentation related projects.Responsibilities Facilitate online and in‑person consultations in a timely manner and follow UWSC protocols.Complete several online training modules.Attend regularly scheduled Friday afternoon workshops throughout the semester and complete training prior to each semester start.Complete all workshops each semester.Qualifications Must be enrolled at the University of Nevada, Reno.Successfully completed ENG102 (or equivalent) and at least one core humanities course (or transfer equivalents) with a B or better.Minimum 2.5+ GPA.Strong writing, reading, and speaking skills within their discipline.Effective interpersonal communication skills and basic computer familiarity.Ability to work with students from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.Growth mindset.Candidates pursuing degrees in Engineering, Biology, Business, Economics, Anthropology, Geology, Community Health Sciences, and Nursing are encouraged to apply.Completion of ENG408B or prior experience in an academic support center or other tutoring experience is preferred.GPA of 3.0+ is preferred.Schedule & Compensation Expected hours: 8–15 per week.
