Student Services Specialist-JLocation: Leavenworth, KS 66048 Department: Military Academic Services, Fort Riley & Fort Leavenworth Job Status: Full-Time Rate of Pay: $17.18 - 19.19 Hourly Status: Until Filled |
| This position serves as the first point of contact with all students entering the Fort Leavenworth office, assisting students or potential students with information about the programs, degrees we offer, as well as general information about the college and classes. This individual will also assist with all office duties, including but not limited to processing student enrollment and transcripts, working with and navigating between multiple operating systems to assist students and staff, working with Fort Leavenworth and Fort Riley staff on assignments, as well as answering the phone and email, and other traditional office duties. Military Knowledge preferred. |
| 15 - Assists with entering and processing all enrollments, including BART, online College Program, BSEP, and LSEC. |
| 20 - Serves as first point of contact to help students get the information they need and assists in directing them to the appropriate offices, whether that would be Financial Aid Advisors, Counselors, Enrollment Services, Human Resources, etc. |
| 10 - Processes drops for LSEC, BSEP, and College Program. |
| 15 - Assists students with enrolling into Canvas, ECompanion, Hybrid, BARTonline. |
| 10 - Multitasking with several different variables going on in the office at once. |
| 10 - Staying organized using effective time management and being adaptable to the needs of the office. |
| 5 - Performs other duties as needed or assigned. |
| 10 - Prepares paperwork for all classes prior to classes starting each cycle and maintains the returned book roster spreadsheet. |
| 5 - Instructs students how to pay online through PAWS. |
| Process all transcripts, drops, and enrollments in a timely manner. |
| Provide prompt customer service to all internal and external customers of Barton Community College, Fort Leavenworth. |
| Assist or execute any expected or assigned office work. |
| Demonstrate commitment to the highest ethical standard of professional practice as well as personal and professional integrity. |
| Demonstrate initiative, practice good organization and time management, and understand the confidential nature of personal student information and know when you can and cannot share it FERPA. |
| Experience - Six months to two years of similar or related experience. |
| Education - A high school education or GED. |
| Interpersonal Skills - Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the college for purposes of giving or obtaining information, building relationships, or soliciting cooperation. |
| Other Skills - Associates in Business Technology or related field preferred. Effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills. Ability to interact professionally and effectively with students, faculty, and staff, ability to work with students of diverse ages and backgrounds, and ability to operate independently, multitask. Computer skills with Microsoft Office is a must. Learning different Barton operational software and knowing how to navigate around the internet is required. |
| The work is sedentary. Typically the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items, driving an automobile, etc. No special physical demands are required to perform the work. |

The starting hourly range for this position is $17.18 to 19.19.
