Paradise Valley Community College (PVCC) is seeking a Student Services Manager who leads the daily operations and collaborative outreach initiatives of the Puma Empowerment Center, Intercultural Center, and student CARE/Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT).

Reporting to the Dean of Student Affairs for Retention and Engagement, the manager will oversee the Puma Empowerment Center, ensuring students have access to essential resources and support services through community partnerships and district-level collaborations. This position will also lead weekly CARE/BIT meetings and ensures that the CARE/BIT team responds to reports in a timely and holistic manner. The manager will envision and collaboratively plan, implement, and evaluate programs, services, as well as campaigns that support healthy and supportive student learning environments for evolving PVCC student needs. This position also serves as the backup student conduct officer.

The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of national CARE/BIT best practices, experience with student crisis management, and problem-solving skills. Strong time management skills, awareness of collaborative event planning strategies, and ability to evaluate efforts are critical to this role. Proficiency in monitoring project budgets is essential, as are excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Competence in utilizing modern office technology and relevant software applications is required.

Essential Functions

40% Manage PVCC Student Care Response

  • Co-leads weekly CARE/BIT meetings and ensure that the CARE/BIT team responds to reports in a timely and holistic manner
  • Serve as the back-up student conduct officer
  • Regularly train faculty, staff, and students on how to best support students of concern and address concerning student behavior
  • Collaboratively design and implement campaigns advertising resources and techniques to enhance student well-being and success
  • Attend regular trainings and meetings offered by the district
  • Regularly update well-being-related resources featured on website, canvas shells, etc

30% Manage PVCC Basic Needs and Wrap-Around Service Support

  • Oversee Puma Empowerment Center, ensuring students have access to essential resources and support services through community partnerships and district-level collaborations
  • Regularly communicate with on and off-campus partners to continue and expand services that support student basic needs such as food, housing, financial literacy, emergency grants and loans, career development, etc.
  • Collaboratively plan and schedule accessible resources in the Puma Empowerment Center to meet evolving student needs
  • Actively train faculty, staff, and students on current student needs and resources available at the Puma Empowerment Center
  • Regularly visit with off-campus partners, attend District meetings, and participate in related trainings

25% Lead Student Success and Retention Efforts

  • Supervise team (currently one Analyst and two Peer Leaders)
  • Envision and collaboratively plan, implement, and evaluate programs, services, and campaigns that support healthy and supportive student learning environments for evolving PVCC student needs
  • Support student organizations, leaders, staff and faculty with ideas and initiatives that support student retention and engagement
  • Assist with Transfer initiatives
  • Manage budget and oversee purchasing
  • Assess and evaluate programs and initiatives
  • Monitor student retention patterns and adjust programming to meet evolving student needs
