Student Services Coordinator - Syracuse Elementary - Job Description

Contract Length: 184 Days, 8 Hours per day
Position Summary
The Student Services Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and coordinating student support services to promote academic success, student well-being, and compliance with applicable federal and state regulations. This position serves as a liaison among students, families, staff, and community agencies to ensure students receive appropriate academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support.
Key Responsibilities
• Ambassador for new students and their families • Safe person for students dealing with home and emotional issues • Advocate for all students • School liaison with WCSC Child Protective Services coordinator • Make home visits when needed • Resolve attendance problems through letters, phone calls, and meetings • Available to help with any crisis intervention • Support classroom teachers in planning behavior and emotional interventions for their students • Help with student supervision as needed • Facilitate programs within the school which help build career skills • Coordinate extended counseling services and mentoring programs • Coordinate student services with school mental health therapists • Conduct classroom lessons as needed to teach life skills and problem-solving skills • Serve on RTI PBIS and School Safety Committees • Work with students, teachers, staff, parents, and principal on student management issues • Serve as case conference chairperson when necessary • In charge in the absence of the principal • Attend certified staff meetings • Short-term classroom substitute in case of an emergency • Other duties as assigned
Several of these responsibilities would be shared responsibilities with the principal and staff.
Qualifications
Education: Valid Indiana teacher, administrator, counselor, or other related degree
Physical Demands
Must be able to talk, hear, sit, stand, walk, and use hands to handle objects. Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
The work environment is a standard office setting with moderate noise levels.
Terms Of Employment
Length of school year and salary determined by the Wawasee Community School Corporation School Board.
Evaluation
Performance evaluation will be conducted according to the school districts policies and guidelines.
