EssentialFunctions:

The StudentServices Coordinator is responsible for providing student support in a manner that demonstrates acommitment to the College's mission and its diverse student population. The StudentServices Coordinator will provide academicadvising, coordinate student life activities, enforce required policies,develop and implement retention strategies, and assist in the studentdisciplinary process.

Responsibilities:

Student Advising and Counseling

1. Provide personalcounseling to students as needed. Confer with faculty or staff regardingindividual students when appropriate.

2. Provide support tostudents by determining and coordinating referrals to and support from othercommunity agencies and resources when needed.

3. Mentor current college students in skills necessary for success incollege, including time management, goal setting, and study strategies.

4. Provide academic advising to continuingstudents, assisting them with following academic degree plans. Serve as backupadvisor for students when departmental faculty are not available.

5. Assist with new student orientation.

6. Assist students with return-planning (from leave of absence) and provide counselingto students who are placed on academic warning, probation or suspension.

7. Develop, revise and update individualized academic plans for students whodo not meet satisfactory academic progress (SAP) requirements and assist students in identifying any potentialimpediments to academicsuccess.

8. Prepare and present workshops on a variety of student success relatedtopics as needed.

Student Retention and Engagement

1. Stay abreast ofprograms, resources, and other opportunities to aid in student retention.Assist in the planning, development and implementation of programs designed toencourage the success and retention of students.

2. Conduct on-goingevaluation of support services. Create, disseminate, and collect studentsurveys aimed at providing feedback on program and/or students' needs. Utilizedata to guide interventions and monitor effectiveness and student progress.

3. Monitor and support students' pace and academic progression toward degreeor certificate completion and provide proactive counseling and timelyinterventions.

4. Participate in campus-wide student success initiatives designed toimprove retention, persistence, and completion.

5. Communicate with students regularly using a variety of communicationtools to promote progress and success.

6. Establishand maintain positive relationships with faculty and staff to support studentsuccess and retention.

Student Accountability and Judicial Affairs

1. Developa thorough understanding of GTC policies, rules, and regulations, and helpstudents navigate them.

2. Manage the review, investigation, andresolution of alleged violations of the Student Code of Conduct.

3. Ensure the integrity of the studentdisciplinary process by providing timely communication, protecting studentrights, and upholding college policies and standards.

4. Coordinate and support the DisciplinaryCommittee and the Disciplinary Appeals Committee.

5. Develop and maintain procedures foradministering the Student Code of Conduct and conducting hearings in alignmentwith institutional policy.

6. Prepare and issue sanction letters and ensureappropriate follow-up on sanctions.

7. Maintain accurate conduct records database anddocumentation; track sanctions and ensure compliance with recordkeepingrequirements. Prepare reports as needed.

Student Affairs and Compliance

1. Assist with the coordination andfacilitation of the institution's compliance to Title IX of the Civil RightsAct of 1964.

2. Provide counseling to students seeking accommodation underADA. Serve as a liaison between faculty and students. Manage and ensure delivery ofreasonable accommodation.

3. Oversee the Student Council and related activities.

4. Assist with creating and obtaining content for the college'ssocial media accounts.

5. Track student communication, casenotes, and strategic activities using a case management system.

6. Provide orientation and training tostudents on the use of computers equipment and academic technology.

7. Maintain working knowledge of applicable lawsand regulations, including Title IX and ensure alignment with institutionalpolicies.

8. Lead the development, implementation, andcontinuous improvement of institution-wide crime prevention and awarenessprogramming for students and employees in compliance with the Clery Act andViolence Against Women Act.

9. Design and deliver (or coordinate delivery of)training, workshops, and campus-wide initiatives addressing topics such aspersonal safety, crime prevention, reporting procedures, consent, bystanderintervention, and risk reduction.

10. Maintain documentation of programming,participation, and outcomes, and support the preparation of the Annual SecurityReport (ASR).

11. Complete all requiredtraining and professional development.

12. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

MinimumQualifications

§ Bachelor'sdegree from a college or university accredited by an agency recognized by theUS Department of Education with one year of related experience; or acombination of education and experience which would lead to the competenciesrequired for successful performance of the position's essential duties.

§ Mustprovide own transportation and possess valid driver's license and maintaincurrent vehicle registration and liability insurance

§ Mustbe proficient in operating a computer and experienced in Microsoft Office 365.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of FERPA, Title IX, federal regulations, ADA, and other applicable laws.

11. Knowledgeof Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).

12. Skill in operatinga computer and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint,Outlook).

13. Ability to operatea variety of office equipment.

14. Must be able toread, write and communicate clearly in English.

15. Must be able tofunction in a hectic work environment with occasional periods of high stress.
