Position Description

Advertised Job Summary

Serves as the primary point of contact for students needing assistance, as requested. Provides support for helping general GARNET students navigate the University's many processes and offices. Remains current with program area requirements, policies, and procedures. Plans, schedules, and coordinates all elements in student orientations, plus other GARNET meetings, activities, and events. Collects and reviews GARNET course materials including syllabi and course evaluations. Processes overrides for GARNET courses and responds to general inquiries for assistance. Remains current with program area requirements, policies, and procedures.

Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in a job related field and 2 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.

Required Certification, Licensure/Other Credentials Preferred Qualifications Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Knowledge of University policies and procedures. Must have ability to direct and manage multiple complex activities.
  • Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others in the University community.

Job Duties

Job Duty

Serves as student services coordinator for USC's senior citizen population. Serves as the primary contact for these students in providing assistance. Provides support in navigating USC requirements and referring to other offices on campus. Assists with course registration and understanding of University policies and procedures.

Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 10 Job Duty

Coordinates and provides support to Assistant Director with current and developing GARNET programs and initiatives including, but not limited to, Winter Session and Summer Semester. Serves as primary coordinator of grade collection for Summer Semester at USC. Maintains the Winter Session course waitlist. Collects and reviews GARNET course materials including syllabi and course evaluations. Maintains positive relationships with all departments/academic/university offices and personnel affiliated with GARNET. Plans, schedules, and coordinates representation at new student orientations, as well as other GARNET activities and events where GARNET works with campus partners and academic departments.

Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 20 Job Duty

Directs and organizes GARNET's Student Advisory Board. Communicates with Board leaders and Board members and organizes volunteer opportunities. Supervises Board leaders in scheduling meetings and meeting itineraries. Assists Board leadership in managing a budget for events, team building, and beyond-the-classroom experiences.

Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 15 Job Duty

Coordinates the Interdisciplinary Certificate enrollment process for students who are adding one or more of the certificates to their undergraduate degrees. Receives Formstacks from interested students and processes their curriculum additions in Banner. Assists certificate students with questions and changes, as needed. Maintains up-to-date database of students currently enrolled in all four certificates. Ensures timely email communication with students regarding graduation application processes. Communicates with academic advisors and Registrar's office on additions, changes, and certificate graduation applications.

Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 45 Job Duty

Supervises student office assistants and provides assistance to GARNET office personnel through backup rotation for front desk coverage. Provides support to and serves in place of Assistant Director for meetings and presentations, as needed. Performs peer institution research, as needed, throughout the year. Performs other special projects and job-related duties, as assigned.
