Position Summary Information

Job Description Summary

The purpose of this position is to recruit and successfully guide students through various educational pathways, including associate, certificates, and undergraduate programs, Dual Enrollment, Continuing Education, and General Educational Development opportunities. The Student Recruitment Specialist, will play a pivotal role in leading prospective students through every step of the admissions process, from initial interest to enrollment.

This position is responsible for executing targeted recruitment strategies and maintaining proactive, personalized communication with prospective students using the College's Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, while implementing effective recruitment strategies to optimize engagement. In addition to growing awareness of Del Mar College's academic and continuing education programs, the Student Recruitment Specialist builds relationships with ISD partners to strengthen the enrollment funnel.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in executing the outreach plans and strategies to achieve enrollment and engagement goals.
  • Provide one-on-one guidance to prospective students as they complete admissions checklist items, including applications, residency documentation, orientation, FAFSA/TAFSA, and academic advising.
  • Act as a knowledgeable and welcoming point of contact for all prospective students, including high school students, adult learners, returning students, and continuing education participants.
  • Offer information on academic and continuing education programs, financial aid, scholarships, and student support services.
  • Work independently with abilities necessary to apply technical skills effectively.
  • Use the College's CRM system to track and manage assigned prospective students, document interactions, and monitor progress through the enrollment funnel.
  • Conduct timely, personalized outreach via email, text messaging, and phone calls to guide students and answer questions.
  • Maintain detailed communication logs and follow-up tasks in the CRM and other college software to ensure consistent student outreach.
  • Plan and participate in recruitment activities including campus tours, workshops, onboarding events, school visits, and community engagement events.
  • Special working hours may include evening (frequent), holiday or weekend depending on deadline requirements and special events.
  • Serve as a liaison to ISDs to promote Del Mar College and its program offerings.
  • Represent the College in a professional and inspiring manner to build positive relationships and drive enrollment.
  • Coordinate with internal departments such as Financial Aid, Advising, Continuing Education, and Dual Enrollment to ensure a seamless onboarding experience for students.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, presentation and written communication skills, and ability to implement action plans.
  • Help identify and remove enrollment barriers through proactive problem solving and cross-functional teamwork.
  • Analyze outreach data and student feedback to evaluate strategies and improve outcomes.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field.

At least three (3) years combined experience in one or more of the following areas: higher education, K-12 education (as a teacher, counselor, or administrator).

Proven experience in outreach, recruitment, and/or community engagement.

Required Job Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.

Strong organizational and project management skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.

Experience with presenting and delivering engaging messages to the student population..

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Customer Relationship Management software.

Experience with Student Information System.

Knowledge of Academic, Continuing Education and Dual Enrollment programs in a higher education setting.

Knowledge of higher education admissions processes and student services.

Tracking and managing assigned prospective students using the College's CRM and other college software to document all interactions and progress through the enrollment funnel.

Maintaining regular and personalized communication with prospective students via email, text, and phone calls to provide guidance, answer questions, and encourage next steps.

Functioning as a liaison among educational institutions, community organizations, and public agencies to cultivate strategic partnerships and advance enrollment initiatives for all student demographics.

Coordinating and participating in student recruitment events, school visits, workshops, and campus tours that support the College's enrollment and outreach goals.

Implementing outreach plans, goals, strategies, deliverables, and timelines to meet institutional objectives and support students in making informed decisions.

Creating and establishing strong alliances with prospective students, their families, school counselors to strengthen engagement and optimize recruitment outcomes.

Job Duty

Identifying and targeting new populations for outreach, including high school students, adult learners, returning students, and continuing education participants.

Utilizing technology and digital tools effectively-including CRM, communication platforms, and outreach data-to engage prospective students and track outcomes.
