The Student Leadership and Greek Life Coordinator serves as a full-time professional within the Division of Student Development and Success and reports to the Dean of Students. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and advancing a comprehensive fraternity and sorority life and leadership program that reflects the University's mission and values. The Coordinator provides strategic oversight of Greek Life, while fostering a values-based community rooted in scholarship, service, leadership, and cultural pride.

This position plays a critical role in cultivating student leadership, strengthening lifelong support networks, and creating pathways for economic and social mobility through meaningful engagement in fraternity and sorority life and broader student leadership initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Advise, support, and serve as the primary liaison for all recognized Greek-letter organizations, including NPHC chapters, alumni advisors, and national headquarters, while overseeing intake, recruitment, and new member education processes in alignment with university and national standards.
  • Ensure organizational compliance with institutional policies, risk management protocols, and governing bodies; manage chapter accreditation, event approvals, hazing prevention education, and conduct processes in collaboration with campus partners.
  • Maintain accurate records of membership, academic standing, organizational status, leadership rosters, and program documentation, while using data to assess program effectiveness and inform strategic planning.
  • Design, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive leadership development program that promotes ethical leadership, cultural competence, civic engagement, and accountability through workshops, retreats, training sessions, and individualized coaching.
  • Promote student success by integrating academic achievement, wellness, and career readiness into the Greek life experience, and by building systems that connect students to alumni mentorship, professional networks, and lifelong engagement.
  • Develop and implement initiatives that position Greek life as a pathway to economic and social mobility, including financial literacy education, career exploration, internship pipelines, and networking opportunities with alumni and corporate partners.
  • Plan and execute signature programs and campus-wide events (e.g., Greek Week, step shows, service initiatives, orientation, homecoming, and leadership programs) that foster student engagement, collaboration, and a culturally affirming campus environment.
  • Partner with campus departments (e.g., Workforce Development, Alumni Affairs, Academic Affairs, Counseling, Title IX, and Campus Police) to support student development, safety, retention, and post-graduate success.
  • Promote an inclusive, positive, and culturally grounded Greek life community reflective of VUU's HBCU heritage and values.
  • Develop marketing and outreach strategies to increase awareness and participation, and manage budgets supporting leadership and Greek life initiatives.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Student Affairs, Higher Education Administration, or a related field required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in student affairs, student leadership, or Greek Life administration.
  • Must be able to lift 10 pounds.
