Student Health at the University of Iowa is seeking a Staff Psychiatrist to serve in either a full time or part time capacity, depending on the applicants preference. Staff psychiatrists at Student Health are responsible for providing health care to the students attending the University of Iowa.

The annual salary will be adjusted based on the percentage worked.

Specific Job Duties & Tasks

  • Perform/order medical diagnostic, therapeutic procedures, and prescribe, dispense or deliver medications. Consult/collaborate with other care team members. Use judgment to apply/adopt information within total clinical picture to address health issues. Influence others to adopt best practices.

  • Complete patient medical records, reports, and forms to record treatment for treatment record and billing purposes. Improve quality of care by performing chart reviews and participating on performance improvement committees.

  • Provide health education to patients and medical education to health professions students and residents. Through health promotion maximize student learning, retention and success.

  • Assure team provides effective collaboration/communications. Serve on committees to enhance patient care and operations.

Required Education & Licensure

  • Graduation from an approved and accredited medical school and a license to practice in the state of Iowa

  • Board Certification/Eligibility in Psychiatry

  • Minimum of 3 years of related experience

  • Interest and knowledge of college health issues

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience creating and maintaining a welcoming and respectful environment
