Job Summary
The Student Event Assistant assists in preparing and executing various university events, with a focus on devotionals and commencements. This role ensures the efficient completion of all event-related tasks and contributes to the overall success of university events, providing a professional and well-coordinated experience for participants.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist the University Event Manager and University Event Coordinator with event preparation, technical aspects, and execution.
- Communicate effectively within the University Events team and with participants and attendees.
- Answer phones, greet visitors, resolve routine questions or issues following established procedures and guidelines.
- Operate office machines such as copiers, scanners, and desktop computers.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with strong attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work well under pressure and adapt to changing event needs.
- Commitment to upholding the values and mission of BYU-Hawaii.
- Available for evening and weekend work as needed.
- Must be available to work Tuesday mornings while school is in session.
- Driver's License preferred but not required.

Physical Demands
Day-to-day: Air-conditioned office environment with minimal physical effort.
Event preparation and day of events: Frequent standing and walking, regularly lifting, loading, and moving up to 10 pounds with occasionally moving up to 50 pounds.
