Student supervisors also oversee other student workers manage projects serve as a mediator and perform other duties as assigned. They must have served as a library student assistant for at least one year.Principal Responsibilities-Staff the circulation desk and assist patrons with checking materials in and out-Remain engaged and cordial with all library patrons entering and exiting the library-Answer basic questions for patrons such as inquiries about library policies-Assist patrons with basic tasks such as locating items in the library and addressing minor technology issues-Complete opening and closing procedures for the Law Library-Perform shelving shelf reading and other stacks maintenance tasks such as shifting-Perform basic cleaning tasks such as wiping down study carrels and dusting bookshelves-Assist Law Library staff and librarians with special projects-Required to work at least one closing weekday shift andor weekend shift-Provide advanced department assistance on special tasks and projects-Serve as a mediator between students and staff-Provide supervision during evenings and weekends-Help train other student workers-Provide feedback as requested-Cultivate training material-Assist in coordinating shift changes-Pick up extra shifts as necessary- Assist with management and supervision of peer students Student SupervisorRequired Skills- Ability to communicate effectively- Professionalism- Leadership- Ability to handle private and confidential material and information- Problem-solving-Attention to detail-Proactive and friendly customer service attitude-Ability to work independently and cooperatively-Dependability and punctuality-Excellent ability to communicate verbally with a range of patrons co-workers studentsstaff faculty and the general public-Organizational and time management skillsMinimum Qualifications- Must be enrolled as an ONU student- Good academic standing- Have worked at the library for at least one yearEEO StatementONU is an equal employment opportunity employer.
