We are seeking a motivated and responsible part-time student worker to assist with various administrative and operational tasks, including classroom preparation, recruitment activities, and other duties as required. This position is ideal for a student looking to gain practical experience in a dynamic academic environment.

Other Requirements for the Position

Key Responsibilities • Classroom Preparation

  • Assist in setting up classrooms for lectures, seminars, and other academic events.
  • Organize and distribute materials such as handouts, textbooks, and equipment.
  • Ensure classroom technology (e.g., projectors, computers) is functioning properly.
  • Support instructors with any last-minute requests or adjustments.

• Recruitment Assistance

  • Help organize and participate in recruitment events.
  • Distribute promotional materials and provide information to prospective students.
  • Assist in the coordination of virtual and in-person recruitment activities.
  • Maintain and update databases of prospective students and applicants.

• General Administrative Support

  • Perform clerical tasks such as data entry, filing, and scheduling.
  • Assist with communication efforts, including drafting emails, making phone calls, and preparing presentations.
  • Support special projects and events as needed, providing logistical and operational assistance.
  • Provide excellent customer service to students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled as a student at SHSU.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other relevant software.
  • Availability to work 20-28 hours per week.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a similar role is a plus.
  • Familiarity with College of Criminal Justice or academic administration.
