Student Conference Associate
Scope of Service: Summer and Fall 2025 and Spring 2026
The Student Conference Associate (SCA) position is critical to the success of MassArt's active event program. This position is highly visible and interacts with all areas of the campus community, including the President's Office, Public Safety, Facilities, Admissions, Student Engagement and Student Government Association, as well as a variety of campus visitors.
SCAs are a direct reflection of the Conference and Event Services Office and the College. Student employees should consider themselves role models for guests, clients, and peers. This is accomplished through a neat appearance, a pleasant and friendly disposition, attention to detail, and a commitment of service to ensure success.
General Statement of Duties
Event Staff reports to the Assistant Director of Conference & Event Services.
This position will assist the department with the following responsibilities:
Customer Service:
- Support front-of-house operations, such as ticket-taking, checking in attendees, maintaining guest lists
- Act as a friendly helping hand for guests, answering questions about the event as well as general questions about MassArt and our campus
- Liaise with other campus service providers - specifically Facilities, Public Safety, and Technology - to report any issues or accommodate special requests
- Receive training by MassArt's Conference and Event Services Department and periodically be trained/refreshed on new/updated information and policies
- Function both independently and as a part of a team representing the College while assisting students, faculty, and off campus guests before, during, and after events
Event Setup:- Check event setups to ensure accuracy prior to the start of the meeting or event
- Ensure proper event signage is in place
- Assist with the moving, installation, arrangement, and breakdown of tables, chairs, podiums and other event furniture as requested
- Pick up and/or return equipment from various locations on campus as needed
- Assist with inventory of event furniture, linens, signage, and other miscellaneous event equipment
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:

- Ability to work evenings and weekends
- Exercise problem solving skills

- Able to lift and maneuver up to 45 pounds
