This position provides centralized leadership direction and coordination to support students, faculty, and staff regarding well-being and mental health practices for students. This position fosters relationships with campus and community organizations to provide wrap-around services for students. The coordinator will provide proactive, prevention-focused outreach to students, faculty, and staff on a variety of topics impacting students overall wellness.

The coordinator has responsibility to:

  • Research and analyze data and make critical decisions.
  • Provide support for faculty and staff in assisting students desiring mental health support.
  • Work with emotionally charged individuals.
  • Assess student needs and direct students to appropriate resources, information, and training.
  • Manage reporting as required by federal and state mandate.

This person will work collaboratively and cross-functionally with college partners to promote and reduce stigma around mental health and positive help-seeking behavior.

Compensation Starting salary is likely to be between $60,162 and $70,249 per year with an excellent benefits package. The person hired into this position will be placed within this range based on education, training, experience, and skills.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree.
  • Three years of relevant work experience.
  • Ability to work in a diverse environment with individuals of widely varying backgrounds.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills that demonstrate the ability to be clear, tactful, and empathetic, as well as handle highly confrontational and/or emotional interactions.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate authoritatively on compliance issues to all levels of constituents, from students to the executive levels of the college.
  • Ability to develop and deliver engaging presentations.
  • Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background check.

  • Knowledge of ICCB regulations pertaining to student mental health.

Job Duties

  • Conduct initial screenings with students to assess needs for appropriate referrals. (Essential Duty: Yes)
  • Coordinate and present proactive and prevention-oriented educational information sessions and wellness programming in partnership with college departments and community agencies targeting key issues such as emotional wellness, stress management, sexuality, healthy relationships, eating concerns, time management, and other topics of interest through workshops and class presentations.   • Manage effective relationships with faculty and staff when responding to students in crisis or displaying concerning behavior. (Essential Duty: Yes)
  • Develop, implement, and present current health, wellness, and social information pertinent to the growth and development of college students and to raise awareness about mental health. (Essential Duty: Yes)
  • Maintain strategic partnerships with local and virtual mental health service providers to improve campus mental health wellness and capacity. (Essential Duty: Yes)
  • Collaborate with other offices on campus and refer students to appropriate campus resources for additional assistance. (Essential Duty: Yes)
  • Interpret policies, rules, and regulations to ensure compliance with legislation, including but not limited to Mental Health Early Action on Campus Act (MHEACA), in the mental health area. Maintain relevant data and evaluate the major components of the MHEACA for college and state reporting. (Essential Duty: Yes)
  • Create, implement, and coordinate semi-annual well-being and mental health fairs for students. (Essential Duty: Yes)
  • Promote peer mental health support and supervise student workers. (Essential Duty: Yes)
  • Serve as a consultant on the Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT). (Essential Duty: Yes)
  • Assist in the College planning and assessment program by developing annual work unit objectives that impact long-range priority goals. (Essential Duty: No)
