Budgeted Salary Range: The expected range for this position is $94,998 to $100,000 per annum.

Job Purpose

The Student Care Coordinator provides non-clinical case management and behavioral intervention support in the Dean of Students (DoS) Office. Reporting to the Assistant Dean of Students and working closely with the Dean of Students team and several campus partners, this position coordinates case management processes, provides individualized student support, manages policy implementation, and implements student support in a way that fosters community, promotes belonging, and supports student success.

In this role you will:

  • Provide case management, individualized student support, and administrative intake for a wide range of concerns involving undergraduate and graduate students. Manage case intake, coordination, documentation, compliance reporting, and referrals. Apply knowledge of case management and behavioral intervention principles to appropriately escalate and refer cases.
  • Collaborate with a wide range of campus partners to facilitate student support and intervention. This includes participating in the Weekly Incident Debrief (WID), Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT), Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) case management team, and other ad hoc case management meetings. Schedule meetings, prepare agendas, present cases, compile notes, document interventions, and track follow-up for concerns relevant to these and other campus partner coordination groups.
  • Assist with implementing various university policies on behalf of the Dean of Students Office, including the Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) Policy, the Residence Agreement process, and Voluntary Leave of Absence and Permanent Withdrawal approvals.
  • Serve as a Process Resource (as described in the Involuntary Leave of Absence and Return (ILOA) Policy), administering and documenting interventions through the ILOA and Return process, and working with students to answer questions and guide them through the process from referral through re-enrollment.
  • Create and deliver tailored presentations to represent the Dean of Students community of care model for groups such as campus departments, professional staff trainings, student leader trainings, peer counseling classes, and other partners as needed.
  • Provide administrative and event planning support for the Dean of Students Office annual award ceremony, as well as other events and programming that foster positive mental health and well-being of the undergraduate and graduate student population.
  • Manage correspondence and requests for sensitive student information within the guidelines of FERPA.

In addition, preferred requirements include:

  • Master's degree in Education; Student Affairs; Counseling; Social Work or a related field.
  • Proven ability to interact with a diverse population of faculty, staff, students, alumni, and families.
  • Experience in collaborative work with other professional colleagues.
  • Advanced skills as a student affairs professional, including expertise in facilitating student learning, development, and success.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed practices
  • Demonstrated skills in critical incident and crisis management.
  • Solid working knowledge of mental health issues in the college and graduate/professional student population.
  • Strong leadership, strategic and political acumen, and project management skills.

Core Duties:

  • Administer an area or program in student services, evaluate and recommend decisions on program eligibility. Review decisions recommended by other staff.

  • Collaborate with others to help resolve program issues and concerns, interpret policies, and mediate complex and sensitive issues. May be tasked with evaluating and recommending program improvements.

  • Resolve multi-dimensional matters in response to students in crisis, at risk, or who have other program issues, counsel students and parents on sensitive and confidential issues.

  • Provide guidance and counsel, oversee and develop a wide range of programs and services, analyze effectiveness and make recommendations for future programs.

  • Reconcile complex issues; analyze diverse transactions from multiple sources.

  • Summarize data from multiple sources, prepare manage reports and presentations.

  • Identify and evaluate data needs, manage the implementation and development of technology.

  • Develop and implement plans for outreach efforts, develop and maintain external community and university liaison, represent department and university at meetings and events.

  • Provide advice to students on a range of issues, including, but not limited to, academic progress, academic program policies, career plans, accessibility, community standards, etc., in order to guide them in making appropriate choices and decisions. May have to escalate issues to a senior advisor.

  • Apprise students of research, fellowship and scholarship opportunities, make recommendations and may award grants.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert to students and other departments; represent unit/department.

  • May lead, create and contribute to development of business practices and organizational change to improve processes and workflow.

  • May oversee, analyze and assist in financial processes and development of budgets.

  • Serve as a key member of a project team.

  • May train and supervise other staff, volunteers, student and temporary workers.

Minimum Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree and three years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong communication skills to clearly and effectively communicate information to internal and external audiences, client groups, and management.

  • Advanced analysis and problem solving skills.

  • Advanced computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Advanced customer service skills.

  • Relevant computer systems/technology experience.

  • Understanding of financial transactions.

  • Ability to ensure and apply compliance with legal, financial, and university policies and external regulations.
