Who We Are:
Support Services in the ITC consists of groups that provide Oracle, UNIX/Linux, and Programming services to the SwRI campus. The groups are team-oriented and interact with other groups in ITC.
Objectives of this Role:
- Provide programming support for developed in-house applications.
- Applications are mainly written in PERL and use an Oracle backend.
- Applications are hosted and developed on a Linux/Apache/Oracle/Perl stack.
- Provide QA testing of bug fixes/enhancements to existing applications.
- Provide functional support for applications maintained by the IS programming team.
- Open to Summer or Local Year Round student.
Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:
- Provide programming support to handle assigned bug fixes/enhancements to existing applications.
- Assignments are made using the bug tracking software Bugzilla.
- Provide QA testing for modifications done by other developers.
- Provide functional support to end users on developed applications.
Requirements:
- Must be pursuing a Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related degree field.
- Must be entering Junior or Senior year.
- 0 years: Experience in programming. Preferably in an environment developing web based applications on an open source stack. Preferred programming language PERL.
- Experience writing applications to interface with a backend relational database. Familiarity with writing SQL statements.
- Experience with Linux and open source tools such as Git, Apache highly preferred.
- A valid/clear driver's license is required.
