Position Summary:

The Structural Heart Coordinator oversees the clinical, operational, and regulatory components of the Structural Heart Program, including transcatheter valve and left atrial appendage procedures. This role coordinates multidisciplinary care across the patient continuum, ensuring appropriate patient selection, timely interventions, and comprehensive follow-up. The Structural Heart Coordinator ensures compliance with CMS requirements, national registry standards, and organizational policies while promoting high-quality, patient-centered outcomes. The role supports program performance through data management, quality improvement, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate all phases of structural heart patient care, including referral, evaluation, procedure planning, discharge, and longitudinal follow-up in alignment with program protocols.
  • Facilitate multidisciplinary Heart Team collaboration by organizing case reviews, compiling clinical data and imaging, and supporting shared decision-making processes.
  • Ensure compliance with CMS requirements, national coverage determinations, and registry standards through accurate documentation and timely data submission.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for patients and families, providing education on procedures, care expectations, and follow-up requirements.
  • Monitor program performance metrics including procedural volumes, outcomes, complications, and readmissions, and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with internal departments and external partners to support operational efficiency, payer requirements, and program growth.

Licenses and Certifications Required:

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the applicable state is required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required, with Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
  • An Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited program is required at minimum.

Experience Requirements:

  • A minimum of three to five years of clinical experience in cardiovascular care, cath lab, intensive care, cardiac surgery, or interventional cardiology is required.
  • Prior experience in a structural heart program and involvement with case management, utilization review, or program development is preferred.

Special Skills or Training Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of structural heart disease and interventional cardiology procedures is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate multidisciplinary care and collaborate effectively across clinical teams is essential.
  • Familiarity with CMS National Coverage Determinations, regulatory compliance standards, and national registry reporting (including STS/ACC TVT Registry and LAAO Registry) is preferred.
  • Proven skills in program coordination, patient education, quality and performance improvement, and data-driven decision-making are highly valued.

Physical Requirements:

The Structural Heart Coordinator is required to frequently sit, stand, and walk between clinical and office settings while coordinating patient care activities. The role involves occasional lifting of light supplies and equipment, as well as extended periods of computer use for documentation and data management. Adequate vision, hearing, and manual dexterity are necessary to review clinical information, communicate effectively, and navigate electronic systems.

Environmental Requirements:

This role operates in a combination of office, clinic, and hospital procedural environments, including exposure to patient care areas such as cath labs and inpatient units. There may be intermittent exposure to infectious diseases, medical equipment, and moderate noise levels in clinical settings. The Structural Heart Coordinator must adhere to all infection prevention, safety, and PPE protocols while managing responsibilities across multiple departments and occasionally high-acuity situations.
