OverviewStructural Engineer (Mid-level) – Harlingen, Texas. As a member of Garver's growing Water Design Center, the Structural Engineer will assist in the development of Structural Designs in support of various Water Business Line projects. The majority of assignments will relate to developing structural designs for new water and wastewater treatment plants or improvements to existing facilities.ResponsibilitiesBe technically competent in aspects of structural engineering.Work with a team of multi-disciplined project engineers, design engineers, and BIM Technicians in the development of construction plans and specifications for water and wastewater treatment plant projects.Work on multiple projects concurrently.Assist in the development of project budgets including the development of detailed project instructions, scope of work, level of effort, and associated man-hour estimates.Be responsible for time management and work product quality.Keep accurate and up-to-date project accounting on all assigned projects.Conduct written and oral project reporting for clients and team leaders, including project design status, upcoming milestones, project accounting, percent completes, and progress reports.Assist in the preparation and execution of Quality Assurance and Quality Control Plans for water and wastewater treatment projects.Assist with internal and external project workshops.Be responsible for continuing education and learning based on project needs, as well as overall needs of the team.QualificationsBachelor's Degree in civil or structural engineering from an ABET-accredited program.5-10 years of technical experience in structural design engineering.Basic understanding of structural engineering design in concrete, masonry, and structural steel.PE or ability to obtain a PE registration within 2 years.Preferred SkillsMaster's Degree in civil or structural engineering.Registration as a PE or willingness to take the NCEES Professional Engineer exam within 2 years.Working knowledge of Revit CAD programs.Structural complexities associated with water and wastewater treatment equipment.Experience working with a multi-disciplinary team across process, structural, building mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation & controls.Active participation in local professional organizations.TravelSome travel may be required for field work or project support during construction.Water Design Center (WDC)The WDC provides multi-disciplined engineering, science, design, and technical staff to deliver sound solutions and quality designs for water and wastewater facilities and related infrastructure.
