Fully Remote Structural Engineer
Job Description
The Structural Engineer provides expert structural engineering support for complex commercial and industrial projects, performing detailed calculations, reviewing and coordinating structural designs, and ensuring that all construction activities comply with applicable codes, standards, and customer requirements. This role collaborates closely with internal and external stakeholders, participates in project and customer interviews, and conducts field surveys to deliver practical, cost-effective solutions. The engineer works with minimal supervision and serves as a technical resource for structural analysis, design, and installation quality.
Responsibilities
- Perform detailed structural calculations to establish construction standards and specifications for commercial and industrial projects.
- Review third-party structural designs and provide clear, constructive feedback to ensure compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
- Coordinate structural design workloads with subcontractors, ensuring that deliverables are aligned with project schedules and quality expectations.
- Participate in customer and project interviews to understand requirements, clarify design intent, and support proposal or project development activities.
- Confer with internal and external customers to discuss existing or potential construction projects and translate needs into effective structural solutions.
- Conduct field surveys and studies to identify structural conditions and develop practical, cost-effective engineering solutions.
- Review and study technical drawings and specifications to confirm that designs and installations conform to standards, codes, and customer requirements.
- Provide guidance to project teams and construction personnel to ensure that construction activities comply with structural specifications, codes, and customer requirements.
- Inspect completed installations to verify conformance to design intent, equipment specifications, and structural performance criteria.
- Provide structural engineering expertise for complex projects with minimal oversight, acting as a technical resource for structural analysis and design.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams using tools such as Revit and AutoCAD to produce and refine structural drawings and models.
- Apply advanced knowledge of structural steel and concrete design to support safe, efficient, and code-compliant construction solutions.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years of structural engineering experience in commercial or industrial projects.
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Strong proficiency in structural analysis and structural design for concrete and structural steel systems.
- Ability to perform detailed engineering calculations and develop construction standards and specifications.
- Experience reviewing and coordinating structural designs, including third-party engineering deliverables.
- Ability to interpret and evaluate technical drawings and specifications to ensure compliance with codes and customer requirements.
- Capability to provide technical guidance to construction teams and ensure adherence to structural specifications.
- Experience conducting field surveys and inspections to assess structural conditions and completed installations.
- Proficiency with Revit and AutoCAD for structural modeling and drafting.

Work Environment
This is a fully remote position working Monday through Friday. The role involves approximately 5-15% travel to client sites for field surveys, inspections, and project meetings. Work is primarily performed using engineering and design software such as Revit and AutoCAD, along with standard structural analysis tools. Site visits may include active construction environments where safety protocols and appropriate professional attire are required.
