The Department of Design & Construction, Civil Division is hiring for a Structural Engineer IV in Honolulu.What You Will DoCoordinate and oversee the development of the project plans, reports, permits, specifications, and cost estimates for projects such as bridges, utility adjustments, stream transitions, retaining walls, drainage structures, earth stabilization mitigation improvements, rockslide mitigation, and other concrete, steel, and timber structures.Participate in the consultant selection process and contract negotiations.Maintain project administration of the project by monitoring the project schedule, reviewing consultant invoices, and preparing contract amendments as necessary.Special Working ConditionsRegular hours anticipated but may require evening, weekend, or holiday work to accommodate emergency situations.Actual salary commensurate with applicable experience, pending approval.Enjoy excellent employment benefits including generous time off (up to 21 vacation days, 21 sick leave days, and holidays), comprehensive health coverage, retirement plan, career development, and much more! Visit for details about all our available benefits.Education RequirementEquivalent to graduation from a regionally‑accredited four‑year college or university with a bachelor's degree in an engineering specialty.Experience RequirementThree years of work experience involving the use of non‑registered professional structural engineering principles and techniques.License RequirementPossession of a valid license as a professional structural engineer in the State of Hawaii.Valid Hawaii State driver's license (Type 3/automobile), as required. The current vacancy requires a driver's license.Applicants with a current out‑of‑state professional structural engineer license must obtain their Hawaii license prior to appointment.
