What You Will DoGFT is looking for an experienced Structural Engineer in Roseville, CA. The growth and diversification of the Hydro Power and Water Business Line is a top initiative on both a regional and national scale. Our projects involve the design of hydropower and thermal power generation infrastructure, substations to support the upgrading and expansion of the electrical grid, design of power generation sites, photovoltaic generation sites, and battery storage facilities.What You'll Be Challenged To DoAs a Civil/Structural Substation Engineer you will independently apply advanced theories, concepts, and principles of engineering to resolve crucial issues and unique conditions. You will serve as a technical specialist in analyzing the components of projects, establishing design criteria, and executing designs.In This Capacity, Your Responsibilities Will IncludeCheck calculations prepared by less experienced staff.Perform advanced computations, calculations or analysis for design of steel structures and equipment foundations for electrical and mechanical equipment, low/high voltage utility substation applications.Work with client and other disciplines to prepare appropriate designs.Ensure that production of drawings and specifications meets the scope, schedule, cost, and quality requirements and satisfies federal, state, and local requirements.Review vendor drawings and evaluate need for design changes and make appropriate recommendations for entire projects.Consult with construction personnel concerning field conditions, sequencing, and scheduling of activities.Coordinate construction activities in response to civil/structural related RFIs.Lead in the preparation of specifications.Perform QAQC reviews for structural documents.Participate in multidisciplinary coordination meetings.Perform site assessment, scope walk, and construction support.Determine client requirements and develop designs and contract documents.Assist in the development of fee proposals.Serve as resident engineer to support construction activities occasionally.What You Will Bring To Our FirmBS in Structural EngineeringProfessional Engineer (PE) License in CA and ability to obtain multiple jurisdictions8+ years of applicable experience in power generation plants and substationsAdvanced capability such as in AutoCAD, MicroStation, BIM360, Bluebeam, Revit and Plant 3D is a plusExpertise with MS OfficeKnowledge of advanced (3D) design softwareSpecialized experience in advanced software applications (RISA, FAD, etc.) is a plusExcellent oral and written communication skills, able to lead client presentations.CompensationThe salary range for this role is $104,000-$156,000.
