Structural Engineer Contract-to-Hire

Our client is seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to join their growing engineering team in Houston, TX. Key Responsibilities

• Perform structural engineering analysis and design with minimal supervision
• Develop structural concepts and execute detailed engineering calculations and designs
• Apply sound engineering judgment in evaluating and adapting engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria
• Conduct lateral analysis and design for wind and seismic loading in accordance with applicable building codes
• Coordinate with structural designers and other engineering disciplines to ensure design integration and project success
• Prepare, review, and check calculations, drawings, and design documentation
• Perform calculation checks and quality reviews of engineering work completed by peers
• Manage assigned scope of work to meet project schedules, budgets, and quality expectations
• Identify scope changes and communicate impacts to project leadership
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers
• Support continuous improvement initiatives, workflows, and emerging engineering technologies
• Participate in occasional field walks and site visits as required

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required
• Minimum 10 years of structural engineering experience
• Strong knowledge of U.S. building codes including:
  • IBC
  • ASCE 7
  • ACI
  • AISC
• Experience with structural analysis and design of steel and concrete structures
• Proficiency with structural engineering software and tools including:
  • STAAD
  • Navisworks
  • Bluebeam
• Strong understanding of lateral systems, wind design, and seismic provisions
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
• Experience leading small engineering teams or serving as a lead engineer on projects

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with Structural emphasis
• Structural Engineer (SE) license
• Experience supporting semiconductor, industrial, or manufacturing facility projects
• Additional experience with advanced structural analysis and coordination tools
