Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Structural Engineer with 15–20 years of industry experience to support structural analysis, design, and engineering deliverables for nuclear and power generation projects. The ideal candidate brings strong technical proficiency in RISA‑3D, deep understanding of nuclear regulatory and structural design requirements, and proven capability delivering engineered solutions in a highly regulated EPC environment.

This role will support new nuclear projects, plant modifications, balance‑of‑plant structures, equipment supports, seismic evaluations, and safety‑related structures. The engineer will work closely with multidiscipline teams to ensure all structural designs meet project, code, and licensing requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Structural Design & Analysis

Perform structural modeling and analysis using RISA‑3D, including steel, concrete, and miscellaneous structures.

Develop structural calculations for foundations, frames, platforms, equipment supports, embedded plates, penetrations, and pipe/duct supports.

Conduct seismic, wind, load combination, and fatigue analysis specific to nuclear and power applications.

Generate design packages, calculations, and engineering documentation suitable for regulatory review and construction.

Nuclear & Power Industry Support

Apply nuclear‑specific codes, standards, and regulations, such as ASME, ACI, AISC, NRC guidelines, and NQA‑1 practices.

Support modifications to operating nuclear plants, including safety‑related and non‑safety‑related structures.

Review site conditions, as‑built drawings, and field data to support engineering decisions and constructability.

Develop and maintain engineering deliverables required for licensing submittals and regulatory compliance.

Project Execution & Coordination

Collaborate with mechanical, civil, electrical, and systems engineering teams on integrated project designs.

Participate in design reviews, model walkdowns, constructability meetings, and technical discussions.

Provide engineering guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers.

Support preparation of bills of materials, material requisitions, and construction work packages.

Quality Assurance & Documentation

Ensure all engineering deliverables adhere to project QA requirements, nuclear safety culture, and procedure‑driven environments.

Review drawings, calculations, and specifications for accuracy and compliance with project requirements.

Support corrective action processes and technical resolution of design discrepancies.

Qualifications Required

Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s preferred).

15–20 years of structural engineering experience in nuclear, energy, or heavy industrial projects.

Advanced proficiency with RISA‑3D for structural modeling and analysis.

Strong understanding of AISC, ACI, ASCE, and relevant nuclear design codes.

Experience supporting EPC project delivery or utility engineering organizations.

Demonstrated experience preparing engineering calculations, structural reports, and construction‑ready drawings.

Preferred

Professional Engineer (PE) license.

Experience with additional structural software (STAAD, SAP2000, GT STRUDL).

Background in seismic qualification, safety‑related structures, or DOE/NRC environments.

Experience with 3D model review tools (Navisworks, Revit).
