As a Structural Engineer, you will be part of the Infrastructure – Transportation business practice in the US Central Sector, based in Chicago. You will work under the direct supervision of the Department Manager – Bridges & Structures, focusing on highway and railway related structures. Project types include new structures, rehabilitation of existing structures, and inspection and evaluation of bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and railway facilities for clients such as IDOT, CDOT, WisDOT, Tollway, Metra, and CTA.ResponsibilitiesStructural design for all project types, including complex bridgesSchematic/geometric layout design of new structuresPerform analysis and design calculations according to the applicable design codes; use computer programs as appropriateConduct load rating analysis for bridgesPrepare plan drawings and details, construction specifications and design calculationsConduct on‑site inspection, analysis and condition assessment of existing structuresConstruction phase engineering support including reviews of shop drawings and requests for informationAssist project managers with scoping and budgeting for structural work and be responsible for quality assurance of deliverablesQualificationsMS in Civil Engineering – Structures track required.EIT certification required - on track to earn PE/SE.4+ years progressively responsible relevant experience.Bridge Inspection experience, including NHI Course preferred but not required.Prior experience with complex bridge projects.Knowledge of bridge analysis, design and detailing as it pertains to IDOT, Tollway, CDOT, CTA, Metra, and local agencies and applicable design codes such as AASHTO and AREMA.Knowledge of structural analysis software including MDX, LARSA and RCPier preferred but not required.Proficient with MicroStation and AutoCAD preferred.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Excellent organizational skills.Strong project management skills and the ability to work in a team environment.Salary and BenefitsThe salary range for this role is $95,000 to $120,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to the candidate's skill set, experience, certifications, and geographic location.
