Job Title: Structural DesignerJob Description

This Structural Designer role is based in Houston, Texas and focuses on delivering high-quality structural design for oil and gas, refinery, and petrochemical projects. The position requires strong proficiency with CAD tools, particularly CADWorx, AutoCAD, MicroStation, and Revit, and involves producing and checking detailed structural drawings for concrete, structural steel, and civil disciplines.

Responsibilities

  • Develop accurate and detailed structural design drawings using CAD software, including Revit, AutoCAD, MicroStation, and CADWorx.
  • Produce drawings for concrete and structural steel structures, and support civil discipline design as needed.
  • Check the accuracy and quality of drawings developed by drafters when assigned, ensuring alignment with engineering direction and discipline drawings.
  • Interpret and apply engineering information, including equipment drawings and discipline-specific documentation, to create clear and precise structural layouts.
  • Apply AISC and ACI standard details in the development of structural designs and drawings.
  • Incorporate specifications and installation details for construction bulk materials and equipment into design deliverables.
  • Support projects in the oil and gas, refinery, and petrochemical sectors by providing reliable structural design solutions.
  • Collaborate with engineers, drafters, and other project stakeholders to ensure designs meet project requirements and industry standards.
  • Maintain organized design files and documentation to support project reviews and quality assurance processes.

Essential Skills

  • At least 5 years of working experience with CAD software, including Revit, AutoCAD, MicroStation, and CADWorx.
  • Demonstrated structural design experience in oil and gas, refinery, and petrochemical projects.
  • Strong structural engineering and structural design background, with the ability to produce concrete and structural steel drawings.
  • Proficiency in checking and validating the accuracy and quality of drawings prepared by drafters.
  • Knowledge and practical application of AISC standard details.
  • Knowledge and practical application of ACI standard details.
  • Familiarity with specifications and installation details of construction bulk materials and equipment.
  • Ability to interpret engineering direction, equipment drawings, and discipline drawings and translate them into clear design deliverables.
  • Working knowledge of foundation design concepts relevant to structural projects.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with CADWorx in structural and foundation design contexts.

Work Environment

This position is based in an office environment with standard working hours from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The role involves daily use of CAD software and engineering documentation in a professional setting focused on industrial projects in the oil and gas, refinery, and petrochemical sectors. Team members work collaboratively with engineers, drafters, and other project personnel. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $70.00/hr.
