Structural Analysis Engineer II - Liaison (Full Time)

Job Title:

Structural Analysis Engineer II - Liaison

The Engineer II will serve as primary analytical support to Liaison Engineering. Responsibilities involve developing non-standard repairs, performing stress analyses (static and fatigue) for current production designs of Part 23 aircraft structures. This includes review of engineering drawings, review of certification substantiation reports and writing repair substantiation reports for approval by Pipers ODA Structures Unit Members.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Provide acceptance of Major Material Review Board (MRB) dispositions as appropriate for airframe non-conformances in coordination with existing structures ODA unit member(s)

Represent liaison engineering in MRB process of airframe non-conformance resolution by serving as primary analytical support for disposition of non-standard repairs. Duties to include but are not limited to: substantiation of proposed resolutions for Major MRB actions via classical hand analysis techniques, querying Finite Element Models to obtain internal loads, building Detailed Finite Element Models, and ensuring static strength and fatigue life requirements are maintained

Analyze and disposition production airframe minor non-conformances through standard repair methods.

Prepare FAA required aircraft type certification reports showing compliance with appropriate FAA or foreign regulations on all structural components by either analysis or test

Support the expansion of the Standard Manufacturing Repair Manual

Other duties as assigned

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.May be required to train and assist other employees, effectively partnering and collaborating on department and cross-functional organizational initiatives.

Minimum Position Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and Experience

Requires a Bachelors Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, and minimum of three years of experience with structural analysis; Five years of experience is preferred, including direct experience with MRB structural analysis or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Working knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulation 14 CFR parts 21 and 23, related Joint Aviation Requirement (JAR), and Civil Aviation Authority (CAR) 3 knowledge required.

Knowledge of aircraft with respect to structure, materials and processes specifications required.

Familiarity and experience with Finite Element analysis (Femap/Nastran), modeling and MRBs preferred.

Working knowledge of Windows based computer programs such as Word, Excel, and Outlook

Possesses critical thinking, analytical skills and flexibility. Ability to multi-task. Required detailed attention to work in an environment where interruptions need to be controlled. Demonstrates sensitivity to customer needs and expectations.

Travel and overtime are required when necessary.
