POSITION SUMMARY: The registered Nurse Stroke Coordinator is an individual who demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to support stroke services at SRMC in providing specialized care to the stroke patient population. The RN is accountable for oversight of the clinical stroke program to assure that all patients receive comprehensive and timely treatment interventions that are consistent with Sky Ridge Medical Center’s defined Clinical Practice Guidelines. Oversight of the patient achieved through collaboration with the health care team to provide patient education, participating in multidisciplinary rounding, and assists with facilitating the bedside clinical care of Stroke/TIA and other complex cerebrovascular patients to assure that all patients receive comprehensive and timely treatment and interventions. Quality assessment of patient care to include assisting with design and development of PI indicators and active participation in outcome reviews. Provides ongoing statistical reports and assists with developing specialized reports as required or assigned. Serves as a liaison between the Stroke/Neuroscience service and related departments. The stroke coordinator assists to organize, coordinate, and facilitate meetings for the Stroke Services Program and performs delegated management duties assigned byt he Director of CV services and Clinical Coordinator, which are consistent with her/his, scope of practice and competence.
