Strategic Sourcing Specialist

The Strategic Sourcing Specialist improves the supply chain and purchasing operations of a company. This role works closely with suppliers and vendors to negotiate contracts and enhance processes related to receiving parts and managing inventory. The primary goal is to reduce costs while improving delivery times. This position collaborates with leadership to ensure the supply chain aligns with business needs.

What You Will Be Responsible For

  • Develop and maintain sourcing strategies that optimize purchasing decisions based on supply and demand while minimizing risk and cost
  • Purchase and negotiate materials, equipment, and supplies with vendors
  • Evaluate vendor quotes and services to identify the most advantageous suppliers
  • Negotiate pricing, service levels, and payment terms with suppliers
  • Manage supplier relationships, including:
    • Forecasting demand
    • Monitoring quality and delivery performance
    • Addressing supplier issues
    • Tracking internal demand and material usage to optimize purchasing
  • Coordinate requirements with engineering and sales teams
  • Prepare Requests for Quotation (RFQs) to secure competitive bids from approved suppliers
  • Engage suppliers strategically to build strong partnerships
  • Manage and support operating cash flow objectives
  • Utilize contract terms to recover supplier-related costs when applicable
  • Resolve conflicts and provide coaching when needed
  • Drive and implement process improvements
  • Effectively organize and manage multiple priorities

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree preferred, or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school
  • OR 5–7 years of related experience and/or training
  • OR an equivalent combination of education and relevant industry experience
