Job Description:
Job Overview
The Strategic Sourcing Analyst will support the development and execution of commodity strategies for tooling, capital production equipment, services, and spare components across the Americas region. Reporting into Global Indirect Procurement, this role partners with business units to deliver competitive commercial outcomes, strong supplier performance, and reliable supply - while helping strengthen the Mexico-based tooling supply network.
The successful candidate is strategically motivated, commercially minded, and comfortable operating in a technical environment. You will drive year-over-year performance across cost productivity (savings and cost avoidance), delivery, quality, supplier consolidation, and automation/auto-buy channelswhile maintaining superior customer service to internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Partner with stakeholders to understand business needs and provide proactive sourcing and commercial guidance.
Develop and execute sourcing strategies (RFx, supplier selection, negotiations, and contracting) to improve total cost, lead time, and service.
Use standard procurement tools and processes to deliver measurable value (savings/cost avoidance) and support regional/global goals.
Own enablement of internal sourcing workflows (eRFQ/e-quote) and support continuous improvement and new-tool adoption for stakeholders and suppliers.
Manage supplier performance and compliance (delivery, quality, responsiveness) and drive issue resolution and process improvements.
What Youll Do
In this role, you will manage assigned tooling-related spend and supplier relationships end-to-end - from demand intake through sourcing, contracting, and performance management. You will apply strategic sourcing methods to improve total cost of ownership (TCO), reduce risk, and ensure reliable supply to manufacturing operations across the Americas.
Translate stakeholder demand into sourcing plans aligned to specifications, lead times, and cost drivers.
Run RFQs end-to-end (including through internal eRFQ tools), evaluate responses, recommend awards, and negotiate commercial terms.
Analyze total cost and supply risk, including cross-border considerations (logistics, duties/tariffs), to guide sourcing decisions.
Develop, qualify, and maintain a capable supplier base for tooling and related services, with a focus on strengthening Mexico-based supply options.
Support contract and agreement implementation (pricing, terms, and service expectations) in partnership with internal functions.
Monitor supplier performance and lead issue resolution/escalations to protect delivery, quality, and continuity of supply.
Track and communicate category performance (savings pipeline, supplier base, service levels) and support process standardization and continuous improvement.
Ensure purchasing compliance and support resolution of PO/invoice issues as needed to enable smooth execution.
Qualifications
Required
Fluent English and Spanish (business-level written and spoken communication).
5+ years of experience in procurement/strategic sourcing, category management, or commercial buying roles.
Demonstrated progression from buyer/sourcing analyst to category or commodity ownership, including end-to-end RFx and negotiation responsibility.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; comfortable building business cases and executive-ready summaries.
Contracting experience (drafting, redlining, and detailed commercial negotiations) with suppliers and internal legal/finance partners.
Strong analytical and financial acumen; able to evaluate supplier quotations, RFP/RFQ responses, and commercial models and translate them into clear recommendations.
Strong influencing and communication skills; able to present sourcing strategies and negotiation outcomes to stakeholders up to senior leadership.
Strategically driven, self-motivated, and collaborative; comfortable working across cultures/time zones, challenging the status quo respectfully, and driving change through data and influence.
Bachelors degree in Business, Supply Chain, Procurement, Engineering, Finance, or related field (advanced degree is a plus).
Experience sourcing tooling and/or capital equipment, industrial services, machining/fabrication, or related components for manufacturing environments.
Preferred
Experience with e-sourcing/eRFQ tools and/or ERP purchasing modules.
Experience with e-catalog / punchout tools and guided buying (catalog creation/maintenance, pricing accuracy, and user adoption).
Hands-on technical background (e.g., former toolmaker/machinist) or engineering experience that enables effective review of tooling concepts, drawings, and manufacturing processes.
Experience sourcing tooling in Mexico is strongly preferred.
Understanding of supplier qualification processes and quality systems for manufacturing supply chains.
Experience supporting process improvement initiatives and adoption of new procurement tools.
