"POSITION SUBJECT TO COLLECTIVE BARGAINING"

This class is responsible for general and department specific, routine, daily storeroom activities, including supplies receipt and distribution, performing inventories and inventory control activities, and restocking ambulances for the next shift. In addition, this class will also clean the interior and exterior of the ambulances and SUVs used by EMS personnel.

This is a "mandatory-testing" position that requires Drug Testing.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

Maintains automated supply inventory database by updating database as materials, supplies, and equipment are added or deleted, generating related reports to verify inventory levels, and determining re-order activity and usage rates

Distributes and issues uniforms, supplies, materials, and/or equipment based on incoming requests and orders; may assemble emergency equipment packets and/or ready issue bags

Performs quality and quantity checks of materials and equipment received against specifications and amounts ordered; places incoming goods in appropriate areas within the facility

Prepares and maintains a variety of records related to storeroom activities

Assists in maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of assigned facility

Assists in the maintaining and cleanliness of the ambulances and SUVs for the Department by cleaning with hand tools (brush, rag, bucket, etc.) and/or power equipment (pressure washer, vacuum, etc.)

Participates in physical inventories and prepares related reports

Performs other duties of a similar nature or level

Positions assigned to Public Safety may be responsible for:

Monitoring the operation and usage of the automated battery charging system in support of communication radios, cardiac monitors, laptop computers, pages, and/or other related items

Issuing and receiving drugs to and from ambulance crews

Disassembling, inspecting, cleaning, and reassembling medical equipment utilizing appropriate hand tools and accessories

Maintaining cleanliness of EMS Fleet

TYPICAL QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Training and Experience:

High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) and six months of customer service experience; or, a combination of education and experience equivalent to these requirements.

Licensing Requirements:

Must possess a valid driver's license from state of residence

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics (KSAOs):

Emergency Management Responsibilities:

During emergency conditions, the incumbent of this position will automatically be considered an emergency service worker. This employee is subject to being called to work in the event of a disaster, such as a hurricane, or other emergency situation and is expected to perform emergency service duties, as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

Positions in this class typically require: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, finger and hand dexterity as well as repetitive motions. Very Heavy Work: Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, work space restrictions, intense noises and travel.
