We're seeking an experienced and dynamic Store Manager to oversee all aspects of retail operations, drive performance, and inspire a team to deliver the best customer experience in the industry.

What You'll Do

The Store Manager is responsible for overseeing all day-to-day operations of the dispensary while driving sales performance, operational excellence, employee development, and customer satisfaction. This role serves as the primary leader within the retail facility and is responsible for maintaining a compliant, productive, and customer-focused environment aligned with company standards and Illinois cannabis regulations.

The Store Manager provides direct oversight of dispensary staff, inventory operations, financial accountability, compliance standards, and overall facility performance. This position plays a critical role in developing employees, improving operational efficiency, and ensuring the dispensary delivers a consistent, high-quality customer experience.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong operational knowledge, leadership skills, and the ability to effectively manage a fast-paced cannabis retail environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Retail Operations Oversight

  • Direct and oversee all day-to-day dispensary operations including sales floor activity, customer service, inventory flow, and overall facility management
  • Ensure operational efficiency and adherence to company standards across all departments within the dispensary
  • Maintain a strong leadership presence on the sales floor while supporting staff and customers as needed
  • Ensure all opening, closing, and daily operational procedures are completed accurately and consistently
  • Monitor operational performance and implement improvements where necessary
  • Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and professional retail environment

Team Leadership & Employee Management

  • Interview, hire, onboard, and train dispensary employees
  • Supervise and support Supervisors, Shift Leads, and retail staff
  • Create and maintain employee schedules based on business and labor needs
  • Conduct regular coaching, performance evaluations, and employee development discussions
  • Address employee concerns, attendance issues, policy violations, and performance matters promptly and professionally
  • Administer corrective action and disciplinary action in partnership with Human Resources and company leadership
  • Foster a positive, accountable, and team-oriented workplace culture
  • Lead regular leadership meetings and employee communication meetings

Sales & Customer Experience

  • Drive sales performance and customer satisfaction while maintaining a customer-first environment
  • Ensure staff maintain strong product knowledge and provide accurate recommendations to customers
  • Support sales initiatives, vendor promotions, and retail marketing efforts
  • Resolve escalated customer concerns and complaints professionally and effectively
  • Monitor customer experience trends and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Maintain strong relationships with customers while promoting brand loyalty and retention

Inventory Management & Compliance

  • Oversee inventory management processes including intake, transfers, audits, and inventory reconciliation
  • Ensure inventory accuracy through spot checks, cycle counts, and operational oversight
  • Ensure all cannabis products are properly handled, stored, displayed, and tracked in accordance with company procedures and Illinois cannabis regulations
  • Maintain compliance with all state requirements, company policies, and operational procedures
  • Ensure preparedness for inspections, audits, and compliance reviews
  • Partner with Compliance and Inventory teams to address discrepancies or operational concerns

Financial Accountability

  • Review and verify daily sales reports, deposits, cash handling, and register reconciliation
  • Monitor labor usage, operational expenses, and store performance metrics
  • Support budgeting initiatives and overall financial performance goals
  • Ensure all cash management procedures are followed consistently and accurately

Merchandising & Facility Standards

  • Maintain merchandising standards and product presentation throughout the dispensary
  • Ensure promotional materials, displays, and product placement align with company expectations
  • Monitor facility maintenance needs and communicate operational concerns promptly
  • Ensure the store environment remains welcoming, organized, and visually appealing

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum 2–3 years of retail management or dispensary management experience
  • Minimum 2–3 years of management experience (holding a "Manager" title or greater) overseeing large teams (15+) in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment
  • Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience (holding a "Supervisor" title or greater) supervising large teams (10+) in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment
  • Minimum 2–3 years of personnel management experience, including independently handling hiring, terminations, disciplinary actions, scheduling, payroll processing, recordkeeping, etc.
  • Minimum 2–3 years of administrative management experience, including independently handling supply orders, inventory procurement, inventory control, cash management, budgeting, cost controls, etc.
  • Previous leadership experience managing teams and retail operations
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Strong customer service and conflict-resolution abilities
  • Ability to multitask and perform in a fast-paced retail environment
  • Knowledge of inventory management and retail operational procedures
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and retail management software
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and exercise sound judgment under pressure
  • Must possess or be able to obtain an Illinois Agent In Charge Card
  • Must maintain open availability with the ability to be reasonably "on-call"

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous cannabis dispensary management experience
  • Experience managing high-volume retail environments
  • Experience with cannabis compliance and inventory systems
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management, or related field preferred
  • Experience with employee performance management and development

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the dispensary
  • Ability to lift and move up to 30 pounds as needed
  • Ability to work extended hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays based on business needs
  • Ability to sit and work at a computer for prolonged periods when required

Work Environment

This role operates within a fast-paced cannabis retail environment with frequent interaction between employees, customers, vendors, and leadership teams. The Store Manager is expected to maintain a strong on-site presence while overseeing all operational, customer service, and compliance functions of the dispensary.
