Retail & Food Service Leadership
Coen Markets , a trusted regional convenience and food service company since 1923, is proud to support the DoD SkillBridge Program by offering transitioning service members a hands-on Store Manager in Training opportunity. This program is designed to bridge military leadership experience into a civilian management career through structured training, mentorship, and real-world operational responsibility.
This role prepares participants to step into a Store Manager position by developing core competencies in leadership, operations, logistics, financial management, and team development.
Receive structured, on-the-job leadership training in retail and food service operations
Learn end-to-end store management, including staffing, scheduling, and daily operations
Lead and motivate diverse teams in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment
Drive performance through sales growth, cost control, and operational efficiency
Ensure safety, compliance, and execution of company policies and procedures
Manage inventory, cash controls, and basic financial performance metrics
Deliver exceptional customer service while maintaining a clean, well-organized facility
Apply military leadership principles to civilian team development and accountability
Active-duty service members approved (or eligible) for the DoD SkillBridge Program
Background in leadership, operations, logistics, supply, or supervision
Experience managing people, processes, or equipment in high-accountability environments
Strong communication, adaptability, and problem-solving skills
Comfortable working variable schedules, including weekends and holidays
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Prior retail or food service experience is helpful but not required — leadership and accountability matter most.
