The Store Manager reports directly to the District Manager. This position is responsible for maintaining the store's overall performance, ensuring exceptional customer service, managing a team of associates, and maximizing profitability. Store Managers play a pivotal role in driving the success and growth of our business.Duties and ResponsibilitiesSupport the “Cavender's Culture” and drive our Mission, Vision, and ValuesServe as a business partner and key support resource to the companyManagement of the retail store and the supervision of all store employeesOversee day-to-day store operationsScreen, hire, discharge, and train (in applicable skills) all store associatesSchedule employee hoursIncrease sales, maintain profit structure and reduce controllable expensesEnsure that all personnel know and adhere to company policies and proceduresResponsible for all store fundsOpen and close storeMaintain store records and filesOversee receiving of all merchandise, as well as fulfillment of special orders and transfersReturn defective and unordered merchandise to vendors for credit, replacement or cash (check) reimbursementPrepare and submit payroll to the payroll departmentMaintain interior/exterior store image and appearance (including professional appearance of all store associates)Train and motivate all sales people to maximize sales in all departments. Maintain active role in personal selling and solicitation of new businessReceive and implement all home office communications via ThinkTime or other meansSubmit suggestions to your District Manager on advertising, buying, or other operational issuesPurchase store supplies and ensure waste does not occurEnsure that all applicable merchandise is priced correctlyEnsure that all markdowns are taken on a timely basis to minimize excess inventory, maximize gross profit margin, and maximize sales volumeResponsible for maintenance of all interior and exterior facilitiesResponsible for safety, security, and reporting any accidents or incidents in the appropriate mannerReceive all advertising communications from marketing department, relay advertised items and prices to all store associates and implement advertised items and prices to salesAccurately prepare deposits for pick-up serviceSend invoices, end of month paperwork, and all other requested paperwork to the home office in a timely mannerQualifications and Requirements5+ years of successful retail experience5+ years of progressive and successful operational leadership experience3+ years of successful store/general management of a retail businessAs salaried associates, the store managers are required to work at least 48 hours per week and are expected to respond to emergency situations and busy seasons (i.e. Christmas, rodeos, etc.)Job requires employee to remain on his or her feet in an upright position for continuous periods of time without being able to leave the work areaJob requires that the employee regularly pick up objectsJob regularly requires employee to reach for objectsJob regularly requires employee to bend forward by bending at the waist or by bending the legs and spineJob requires perception of speech or the nature of sounds in the airJob requires expressing ideas by the spoken wordAbility to comprehend basic instructionsAbility to understand the meanings of words and effectively respondAbility to interpret documentsPreferred experience2+ years of experience in Western related industriesSuccessful history in retail sales rolesCollege degree in business or related field, or equivalent experienceCavender's is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
