Job Title: Spirit Store Student Lead

Supervisor Job Title: Mail & Spirit Store Retail & Service Manager

Purpose or role of the position: Serve as the student leadership partner to the Spirit Store Manager by helping oversee daily store operations, mentoring student employees, coordinating projects, and contributing to the growth and success of the Spirit Store & Mailroom Department.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Mail & Retail Manager to plan and oversee daily operations.
  • Serve as a lead student employee and point person for the front store and stockroom.
  • Train, mentor, and coach student employees.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain departmental documentation, standard operating procedures, and training materials.
  • Assist with onboarding and evaluating student staff.
  • Help develop work schedules and coordinate staffing needs with other lead students.
  • Assist in running team meetings and communicating goals, expectations, and updates.
  • Work collaboratively with other student point persons to ensure efficient operations.
  • Assist with merchandising, product displays, inventory, and store organization.
  • Recommend retail strategies to improve sales, customer experience, and efficiency.
  • Help plan promotions, events, and marketing initiatives.
  • Resolve customer concerns and make sound decisions when appropriate.
  • Take ownership of assigned projects from planning through completion.
  • Perform opening and closing duties as assigned.
  • Provide feedback and recommendations to the Spirit Store Manager.
  • Perform all duties of a Spirit Store Associate, as needed.
  • Provide leadership and operational support in both the Spirit Store and Mailroom, including serving as a backup for mailroom operations and mail runs when needed.

Qualifications

  • Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to lead by example and support a positive team environment.
  • Strong customer service and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic knowledge of retail operations preferred.

Position Expectations: This is a leadership position requiring initiative, professionalism, and accountability. The Student Lead works one-on-one with the Spirit Store Manager to help plan operations, develop staff, and improve the customer experience. Successful candidates take ownership of their work, communicate effectively, and help create a positive, productive team culture.

In addition to standard retail duties, this role includes key leadership and operational responsibilities that extend beyond an entry-level position, including:

  • Supervising, mentoring, and training team members.
  • Assisting with hiring, onboarding, and staff scheduling.
  • Contributing to management discussions and operational decision-making.
  • Leading or co-leading team meetings.
  • Helping develop and implement retail strategies to improve sales and customer experience.
  • Serving as the acting point person during management absences.
  • Analyzing Square sales and merchandise reports to support inventory and business decisions.
