Position Purpose

The Store Director is responsible for providing strategic leadership and operational oversight for the entire store. This role drives sales growth, profitability, customer satisfaction, and associate engagement while ensuring compliance with company policies, food safety standards, and operational procedures. The Store Director leads all department managers and store associates to achieve business objectives while fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and exceptional service.

Key Responsibilities Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop department managers and store associates.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performance work environment.
  • Drive talent development through training, mentoring, succession planning, and performance management.
  • Conduct regular leadership meetings to communicate goals, priorities, and company initiatives.
  • Recruit, interview, hire, and retain top talent.
  • Ensure accountability for associate performance and adherence to company standards.

Sales & Financial Performance

  • Achieve and exceed sales, profit, and labor targets.
  • Analyze financial reports and operational metrics to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and execute strategies to drive store sales and customer traffic.
  • Monitor shrink, inventory levels, and operational expenses to maximize profitability.
  • Ensure effective merchandising, promotional execution, and seasonal planning.

Customer Experience

  • Promote a customer-first culture throughout the store.
  • Ensure exceptional service standards are consistently delivered.
  • Resolve customer concerns professionally and efficiently.
  • Monitor customer feedback and implement improvements when necessary.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming shopping environment.

Store Operations

  • Oversee daily store operations and ensure all departments operate efficiently.
  • Monitor inventory management, ordering, receiving, and product quality standards.
  • Ensure execution of company programs, initiatives, and operational processes.
  • Coordinate department activities to maximize productivity and service levels.
  • Maintain store appearance, cleanliness, and facility standards.

Safety, Compliance & Food Safety

  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Maintain food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards.
  • Conduct routine inspections and audits to ensure operational compliance.
  • Lead investigation and resolution of safety incidents and customer complaints.
  • Ensure proper handling, storage, and merchandising of all products.

Community & Business Engagement

  • Build positive relationships within the local community.
  • Represent the store in community events and company initiatives.
  • Support company programs designed to strengthen community involvement and brand reputation.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong leadership and team-building skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Strong financial acumen and analytical skills.
  • Ability to lead multiple departments and priorities simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of retail operations, merchandising, inventory management, and labor planning.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing business needs.
  • Proficiency with retail management systems and Microsoft Office applications.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate''s or Bachelor''s degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of retail management experience required.
  • Multi-department leadership experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in achieving sales and operational objectives.
  • Food safety certification may be required where applicable.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift throughout the workday.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to work varying shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs require.

Working Conditions

  • Retail grocery store environment.
  • Frequent interaction with customers, associates, and vendors.
  • Exposure to varying temperatures while working in different store departments.
  • Fast-paced environment requiring effective prioritization and decision-making.
