Position Overview
A healthcare organization is seeking experienced Sterile Processing Technicians to support surgical and clinical operations. This role is responsible for ensuring the proper decontamination, sterilization, and preparation of surgical instruments in compliance with infection control and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Decontaminate surgical instruments and equipment using proper PPE and established protocols
- Inspect, clean, assemble, and package instrument trays per manufacturer Instructions for Use (IFUs)
- Operate sterilization equipment such as autoclaves and washer disinfectors
- Inspect instruments for cleanliness, functionality, and damage prior to sterilization
- Document and report damaged or missing instruments according to procedures
- Maintain accurate sterilization records and instrument tracking documentation
- Ensure compliance with ANSI/AAMI standards and infection control guidelines
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of sterilization equipment
- Maintain organized, clean, and safe work areas
- Communicate effectively with clinical and operational teams
- Participate in training, continuing education, and process improvement initiatives
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of recent Sterile Processing experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Current Sterile Processing Certification (CRCST, CIS, or equivalent) required
- Knowledge of surgical instruments, sterilization techniques, and infection prevention practices
- Familiarity with ANSI/AAMI standards and manufacturer IFUs
- Experience operating autoclaves, washer disinfectors, and related equipment
- Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity
- Basic computer skills for documentation and tracking
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness to complete required vaccinations and health screenings
